I wasn't upset that I didn't recieve the reverse camera as it meant drilling a hole in the rear bumper, not something I could do. I was looking at purchasing a camera that fits on the number plate. these seem cheap from Ebay.

You are right,I don't want to drill the bumper, for that reason they make me a inner camera at tail gate windows,ı will send you a photos soon.
I sent to photos ,you may see them in my gallery

Alex, What I meant regards not saving locations was it didn't save favorites or even by home location. Surely this isn't normal for the Sygic S/W. Other system settings like 2D or 3D view didn't save either!

This is quite strange, because my unit saves Home location (in fact I am using it quite often) and favorites...
Also 2D and 3D information.
Try something: after setting the parameters as you like, get out of the program (Settings -> Exit) and let the program to reload. For sure it will save the configuration. I am doing this way to be sure.
So, after each major change in settings, exit the program to be sure it saves the settings. Again, it is a software "problem", if you can name it that way.

Do you mind elaborating a bit more on this part?

Here is the documentation that I've got from the manufacturer:
https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user..._guide.pdf

vibecy wrote:
Do you mean connect the handbrake wire on the UNIT to Earth/GND? Where exactly should it be grounded? (I have no clue as far as electronics go!)

No, I mean if you want normal unit function, then connect unit's handbrake cable to car's handbrake cable.
As a workaround, connect unit's handbrake cable directly to earth/gnd. A GND point could be even the GND connection of the power cable. Read below.

vibecy wrote:
It will be much more useful to me to be able to choose what I see on my unit screen (divx or sygic, depending on the situation).

If you not connect the unit's handbrake cable to car's handbrake cable, the unit will consider as if the handbrake is released so it will automatically launch the navi program and you will not be able to see video or listen to music.
Multimedia could be experienced only if you connect the unit's handbrake cable to car's handbrake cable.
Or, as a workaround for this, you will permanently connect the unit's handbrake cable to earth/gnd and then the unit will believe that the handbrake is permanently ON and you will have full access to the unit options, evidently without the option of automatically launching the navi program when you release the handbrake.
But, in the long run, it is a little bit dangerous this way because the unit is made like this for security reasons, meaning that you can see video only when stationary with handbrake ON. It doesn't allow you to be distracted by the video when driving.

Thanks again for all the info alex, really appreciated. I will go with the not-so-safe option though Very Happy

As soon as the dealer is ready for installation, I will try to get pics and videos for those who are interested.

R.

Hi Lars
Thanks for the quick response, the straps look like a good way of fixing it, are they available off the shelf..?
ie internet or did you make them yourself.?
Also the 735 measures approx 14mm longer than the 725 so I will have to check wether it will fit ok without major surgery to either the unit or the dash.
Thanks again

Hi Lar,
I noticed your project and would like to do the same.
Purchased a 7" portable navigation system (like your mio) and would like to install it this weekend.

However I don't understand how you are able to turn the device off and on?

It is my understanding that you did some scripting. Could you be so kind to tell me what to do?

Kind regards,

Robbert

He uses the USB connections of the unit for updating maps and software.
See his message from December 2nd, in this thread.

Hi Alex,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

The updating of the maps etc is clear to me. However since the power buttons are hidden, one would need some script in order to turn the device on and off.
I was looking for some scripts where de device will react on AC power (eg startup at AC power and hibrenate when AC power is off).
Since I am not a programmer I don't understand these scripts and it seems quite complicated.

I am very curious how Lar solved this challenge.

Kind regards,

Robbert

I am curious too, because before buying the current navi unit I was looking for an integration of a similar device.
I believe that Lar has used MortScript but maybe he will share in more detail some of his experiences.
