United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 Dynamic Auto Santorini Black

It’s a really common fault on these cars many have been faulty for years and you probably wouldn’t notice but in my experience there comes a point where the ecu cannot read the parameters so it stops the engine from running to stop any possible damage, it’s got to be changed anyway so it’s a very good starting point fingers crossed that it’ll start, can you borrow your friends code reader it may come in handy

Yep. The code reader is mine for the duration. The throttle body was absolutely filthy, as can be seen from the photos. and the teeth completely gone. fingers crossed for me.

Thanks for following Boxa. Its nice to have someone in the background offering a bit of encouragement. I really hope I have not done the bloody valves or something. Car has only just had a rear diff. The third one. The latest One was from Bell Engineering, together with a Haldex service. It would be a shame to have wrecked it after having that done.

I would be surprised if you have done any valve damage as the cam belt looks ok in the pics I think it’s a combination of crank sensor and throttle body it certainly won’t do any more damage if there is any, it would have been nice if you had checked the timing but you’ve got nothing to lose so fingers crossed for tomorrow

That TB was manufactured shortly after March 2009, so it's been around for a while. It doesn't look like the gears have stripped though, so maybe the motor or feedback potentiometer has failed.

If the engine does start afterwards, then you'll need to have an air path calibration carried out, or the TB can be damaged quickly. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

The black gunk is hiding the fact that the teeth are all missing. Bit like me Laughing

The first diff was done by a local LRspecialists at about 55thou. The second done by the same guy at about 95thou. To be honest, since I got a bit more hands on with it, I have found that he bodged a lot of things. Or used cheap parts, while billing me for LR parts.

Air path calibration is good if you have access to correct software although the majority of people just fit the new TB and never have a problem, you will hear the new one making noises for a little while when you first switch ignition on just leave it for a min or so before trying to start the engine 👍🏻
