I can't see the logic in rehoming those effected in the flats they have arranged

They have bought via a housing association something like 60 flats that cost £1m+ each with concierge, cinema complex etc

I can't disagree that they needed to do something but surely it would have been more logical to buy houses at £200k+ bought more houses, housed people who didn't have a house to lose in the first place if they had that money sat around

If they wanted to keep them together, they could have bought a new housing estate, I'm sure they will have something similar in there area, as we do here, 100-200 new builds costing £250-400k, no service charge etc

Stinks of a cover up, buying the people's silence with a huge leap in quality of the property they live in Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Those flats are the "affordable flats" in the complex. Not the £1M versions. Doubt those bells & whistles are included! Rolling Eyes

according to those who worked hard to buy one and live there they will be getting all the luxuries of a posh complex flat, even if they are affordable housing, although i haven't seen how many flats are in the complex 60 odd flats, is quite high number, normally 10 or so is a rough figure

even with affordable housing aspect, these flat will have been still a fair whack compared to houses, and still stand by what i said, money could have been put to better use, buying a house and using the excess cash to buy more homes for the homeless Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

i know London will be more, but no need to splash out on expensive flats, to rehome a few, when there is a bigger homeless picture

Also what i find strange, within a few hours, the news were reporting the twin towers were not fully insured during 9/11, there has been no mention of insurance to rebuild the Grenfel Block, or anything about rebuilding them and rehoming those that lost theirs, its great that the community has clubbed together to provide immediate shelter, clothes etc, but things like this music/song proceeds, what is that going to be used for? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

It would appear that there was a limited amount of sub letting going on - very difficult therefore to confirm the number of casualties. I sincerely hope that those guilty of sub letting ,perhaps to illegals, are not claiming the government emergency aid package.

A total nightmare for the authorities when they do not have a clue who was staying in the building.

Channel 4 news gave frightening demonstration of how flammable the cladding is. They subjected it to high radiant heat and the sample just burst into flames. Chocolate teapots came to mind Sad Sad MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

This video is a bedroom burning 2012 vs 1950.

CSIRO is a government run scientific organisation which is very well respected by the Australian public.

All our modern materials have flame retardants which are carcinogenic, so this is not exactly an idea situation in itself. If the flash fire doesn't BBQ you. You will be barbequed rather sooner than later due to all the carcinogenic compounds that don't actually work, but give you a shorter life due to poor health!

Apart from checking all smoke alarms to make sure they are working, it is probably worthwhile trying to minimise non natural materials in the home! Difficult, but one could at least start with the "low hanging fruit"

Maybe a wake up call for a clean out! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Im worried now for folk who live in log cabins, is that not like living inside a bonfire too? Shocked

Have they done a fire check on those yet to see if they burn?
