lg tv advice

i have just purchased an LG smart tv after my 3 year old Samsung picture quality went from crap to total Censored . The difference in quality has shocked me the LG is amazing (and I always thought Samsung were a good make...).

Anyway a quick query if there is anyone on here with an LG Smart TV, i can record what i am watching onto a usb stick and watch them whenever i want but if i take the usb out of the tv and put it into my computer it does not recognise any of the files, infact none of them have extensions, tried putting .mp4 after some of the recordings but that doesnt work - any idea's?

I believe the LG formats the usb xfs which is Linux
Windows is capable of reading the files but they will probably be encrypted due to DRM, Digital Rights Management
