Where is the Ecu? If it could be unplugged and plugged back in maybe it would help? Jump cables to start motor to try and wake some life? Put the car on 4 skateboards to get it out? Long stick with key taped onto end through gap in window? Cut a hole in garage wall and put a door in it? Pit jack on skateboard and push to side? Break windscreen and get new one on insurance (only good if your windscreen has stone chips, or the heat doesn'twork in it)

yeah thanks for tips.
I managed on one occasion to get the bonnet open by opening the passenger door an inch ! using a fishing rod with an allen key tapped on the end to pull the bonnet catch.
Putting power to the battery doesn't wake it up! the key fobs work fine when it hasnt gone to sleep and the fobs work from a tremendous distance away.

I cannot leave in neutral so i could roll it out the garage as you cannot remove the key fob !

I usually leave the window down these days but just forgot the last time i parked it.
When you unlock the passenger door all the other doors remain locked ! so if its against a wall your snookered.

Dealers tend to hide behind their sign. Many a dealer or landrover could of had an opportunity over the last few years to offer to step in and help even if it had just been an investigation but no they don't have the balls !
All they are interested in is selling new cars and up-selling servicing and thats where it stops.

If you can get your arm in to the elbow then using something like your fishing rod, attach the key fob securely to the end and try pushing it into the dock.

I seem to recal it takes a bit of pressure to push the fob in Sad

As oldgeezer says there should be an override outside the vehicle to wake the vehicle or manual lock to both sides or boot area Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

The alarm sensors (doors, boot, bonnet) goes to the CJB. Also the horns are controlled by the CJB.
As I didn't left the car locked such extended periods in order to all electronics to go to DEEP sleep, I am supposing the followings.
When you manually unlock the door, even if you don't open the door, the CJB will wake up and the alarm/horns will go off and sound. Or maybe you should open the door just a little, an inch or so, in order to really wake the car.
So in that moment, as the CJB is waken up, maybe you can further fully unlock it with the fob buttons??...
Worth a try...

thank you Alex.

i always double lock the car when parked in garages When it goes to sleep , "frequently" turning the key in the left hand door only unlocks the LH door. If i open the door ( It will only open about two inches due to the wall ) the alarm goes off.
The car still doesn't wake up unless the key fob is inserted in the dash. The problem is getting into the car when its parked against the garage wall ! the LH door in the only one you can open but cant open it wide to get in or to reach in with the key fob.

I have also checked the alarm today, when the car is locked but not in sleep mode when you wave your arm around in the car the alarm goes off.

When its in sleep mode the alarm doesn't go off ! so thats a bit carp ! I also noticed that when its in sleep mode if I struggle to reach to insert the key fob and touch the indicator stalk the headlights come on and stay on ! to switch them off you have to flick the switch to main beam. wierd or what.

I must add as muddy wheels says, its actually more difficult than it looks trying to insert the key fob with a bamboo cane or fishing rod through a window gap ! you just cannot get enough leverage.

Thank you npinks will be interesting to see if there is another way of waking it up. Very Happy

They're supposed to stay on for a certain time (I forget how long). With the engine off pulling the stalk is similar to pressing the lighting button on the remote, except that only the headlights come on. They should go off after a minute or so.

Not a bad idea for a FL2 - but climbing over the centre console on a RRS is not for the faint hearted Shocked

Have you got sorted oldgeezer - if so how did you do it in the end Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

reverse is a good idea but suffering with rheumatoid arthritis its not really practical climbing over the centre consul.
I bought the car for its sitting position because of my shoulders, hips and wrists.

I have got the car out the garage , my daughters boy friend is 6'11' and ultra skinny so managed to get his arm through the window far enough but he still seriously struggled getting the fob in and ended up with severely bruised arm.

this is a regular occurrence with it going to sleep as I'm often away and leave the thing at home as it has let me down so many times in the past I dare not use it! I'm using it end of the month to take the caravan away and then will park it up again.

looks like its going to be back to leaving a trickle charger plugged in constantly ! to stop it going to sleep.

There has to be another way Question

The only other thing I can think of is some sort of sliding runners you could park on and slide the car sideways should you need to gain access to the passenger door - not sure what it would cost or if it could be done DIY - maybe some amateur welders on here could advise Confused

Edit - they already make them - I was hoping to patent it http://www.parkandslide.eu/ Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

So in that moment when the alarm goes off if you press the key fob buttons there is no effect on the locks?
It's good to know if so, because if this is the case, then it's really tricky to get in....

correct the alarm doesn't wake the car up ! so the fobs still don't unlock the drivers door or boot !
When its in sleep mode the only alarm that goes off is the BBUS unit so it just sounds like a clock alarm !

sadly not when its stuck in park !

So, being in park is similar to having the handbrake on with the exception that the gearbox is locked too.
You only have to drag it enough to get the front doors in the open so you can get to them, I can't see any damage being done dragging it a few feet slowly Confused ______________________
