oldgeezer, I think you need to alter your garage in some way to accommodate your FL2.

it is just a wee bit too small for the car !!

I have a single garage and park my RRS like oldgeezer - I have enough room to get out of the drivers door but no space to reach the passenger door - I have a lawn mower, 3 kayaks and a roof box in there too but I never thought I would need to make my garage a metre wider so I could unlock the passenger door if I hadn't used the RRS for a while Shocked

This is a design flaw but it only effects owners who park in single garages and have 2 cars or go away for holidays/work Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

It does seem that your motor is giving you a little more trouble than many others get in here... I would just get rid.. of course you will loose money, but right now you are paying for tax and insurance, then there is time invested in all the messing around...

Last but not least... if I said to you that I will give you a grand to feel this angry and stressed for the next year, would you think its worth it?. Sometimes its worth cutting the thread and moving on...?

The car does what i want it to do and that is to tow the caravan ! thats what i bought it for. i don't use it as an everyday car as I have others and a company car.

The car drives great , but its a pain when it goes to sleep and all i'm looking for is a solution thats practical that would allow the thing to wake up without taking dramatic action every time.

Yeah the cars been a real pain but thats been caused all along by inattentive disinterested dealerships and LR customer service. It could of all been sorted within the first months when it was brand new and developed 14 different faults but the bitter pill is the continued " its a charecteristic " or yeah they all do that ! even when its doesnt start !

so just looking for a solution to be able to wake it up ! I usually have to leave it parked with the window down to alleviate this problem but i bet the insurance company wouldn't be too impressed if it was stolen.!

I have owned cars for over 35 years and never had so many issues and quirks and poor reliability and i normally buy new every 3 years and buy 2 or 3 at a time so i have been through fair few makes and models. I even owned a Vauxhall carlton GSi 24v for 7 years once as i was so impressed and did 180,000 miles and it was fantastic and towed my caravan to France each year no problem.

Sorry if I seemed a bit short in my post geezer, its often hard to convey tone online.. I just got the impression that you were close to giving up on it, and sometimes, it helps to hear from someone else what I thought you were feeling.. again, its hard to convey tone in a post! : )

It does seem that reliability as a whole seems to be falling as an industry standard, the volkswagen tiguan for example.. I was considering that as well, despite its horrible side profile. Many owners are complaining of build quality with that one too... It is true what you are saying though, it seems that back home there is a Distinct customer service gab between different dealerships and LR should be doing more to ensure that as a "premium" brand they are reflected such in their customer service reps!.

Over here its a double edged sword... As there are very few LR dealers (my closest one sells ferrari and Masarati as well) they are seen as a much more exclusive car to own. One the plus side, this means that we do actually get very good customer service, on the down side.. we do pay for it hard. One mudflap for a defender for example.. costs... wait for it... 60 quid!!, thats 240 for a set!!

Sometimes service is worth its weight in gold though, and with a Landrover.. its definitely worth the money : )

Why ? 10 minutes to take rear window out easy job for a windscreen fitter and then replace it..i know this would be the way i would go.other wise i would drag it out with something. Freelander2 GS TD4 Manual in Lago Grey Smile .Roof Mount DVD 9.2''Screen~Window Tints~Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth~Retro Fit Sony Satnav~iPhone Dashmount~Side Steps~Woodco Armrest~Mudflaps~Land Rover Sunglass Holder~LED Interior Lights~Private Plate.Evoque Collected 17th Sept 2012.

OG,
I'm new to landy's & D's. Owned vaux's most of my driving life & still do. May be worth testing battery voltage after sleep mode, but prior to starting landy. Just wondering if a drop in voltage would cause sleep mode?
Had prev alarm issue's on a newish vaux (Tig B). Was caused by a low battery, not holding charge. Saying low. .4 volts lower than normal. Just under 12v, prior to running. Was not causing any starting issues, but causing probs with car's electronics. Changed battery, no issue's since. Had that prob from when car was 18 months old, Changed battery when car was 2. Dealers were of no help, as usual Laughing Landy has now gone.

OG - I asked question for you on rrsport and one guy advises he left his 3 months and it still opened with remote Shocked

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic28500.html?highlight=

This suggests the RRS is either not set up like the fl2 to enter sleep mode or you have a power drain/dud battery Confused

Not sure if this helps but just wanted to give you some feedback Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

There is no doubting that OG's car is behaving wrongly, there is no way that it is normal behaviour on a Freelander. It cannot be that if you leave your car locked, unlocked or whatever for a few weeks and not be able to start it or get into it on return is normal and work arounds are needed.

OG's car is a load of crap and should not be taken as normal behaviour on a Freelander, park the bloody thing outside JLR with a big notice and put it on youtube.

Liam@LandRover

Hi Everyone,

I have read through this thread and I understand your concerns regarding accessing the vehicle in a garage.

I can confirm the only way to access the vehicle should the battery go flat is through the driver’s side door with the key provided.

Land Rover make every effort to make the vehicle accommodating and accessible for all occasions but without compromising safety.

To avoid having to take action such as smashing windows it is in your best interest that you try to leave enough room on the driver side to allow you to gain access.

I hope this clarifies the matter.

Kind Regards,
Liam Please note that although Jaguar Land Rover will try to assist you with your issue, we are unable to provide any direct technical advice.
