Junior, no I'm not the slightest bit worried that we are getting belted in the cricket. It's a wonder your guys can play in the current weather though. I went out to the fl2 at 4:30 this afternoon and the temperature on the dash display was reading 46C. Not sure what that is in F scale but too hot for cricket in my book. Massive change since last week when it was 16 and rainy. Maybe that's why they played so good last week, just like home? Smile Anyway, I actually never watch the cricket at all. I find it about as interesting as watching the grass grow but each to their own. Cheers

When I speak to anyone re customer services whatever company it is I allways start off in a very polite manor as you don't get anywhere by being bolshy etcbut dealing with people at Landrover CS & the Relationship dept is enough to drive you to drink as all they do is make up excuses, pass you from one to another & simply make false promises hense my comments. They simply do not understand the meaning of customer service. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

United States

My friend emailed me the information about GMPP warranties. This is an email from January 2009, so the dollar figures are somewhat dated. Although it's through General Motors, they cover any make/model of vehicle. Again, I don't know if they cover vehicles outside of the USA, but I would imagine that there are like companies throughout the world, and local to you.

*Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with this company, nor do I collect any monetary funds for promoting them. This is not an endorsement as I have never used this company. A good friend of mine uses them, and has been very pleased with their service.

Quote:
Major Guard provides 24 hour no cash needed towing and roadside assistance. Major Guard will authorize towing or emergency road service for any disablement of your covered vehicle, or will reimburse you up to $50 for these expenses. Benefits include towing, flat tire service, battery jump, out-of-gas fuel delivery and locksmith and key service. Major Guard will pay the charge to rent a replacement vehicle whenever the new vehicle limited warranty or Major Guard covered repairs require 2.0 or more manufacturer’s labor time guide hours to repair.

What does Major Guard Cover?

It’s as simple as this: If it’s not on the very short list of what’s not covered, IT’S COVERED.

WHAT’S NOT COVERED?

Maintenance services and parts, physical damage, glass, lenses, seal beams, light bulbs, and tires. Components not installed by the vehicle manufacturer. Bumpers, sheet metal, body panels and parts. Carpet, hinges, trim, upholstery, convertible tops, molding and bright metal. Air and water leaks, wind noise, odors, weather strips, squeaks, rattles, paint, rust, carburetor, contaminated fuel system, exhaust system, catalytic converter, brake drums and rotors, shock absorbers and batteries.

WHEN CAN I PURCHASE GMPP?

Any time as long as your vehicle is still inside the new vehicle limited warranty, PERIOD. MAJOR GUARD TIME AND MILEAGE LIMITS START ON THE SAME DAY AS YOU PURCHASE THE PLAN AND FROM THE ODOMETER READING THE DAY YOU PURCHASE THE PLAN. Again, You may purchase the plan at any time but such coverage must be purchased prior to the end of the new vehicle limited warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. It makes sense to return to your selling dealer, but if you find it inconvenient to do so, you may use any commercial repair facility, just refer to the Coverage Agreement for the appropriate phone number to call for authorization prior to repairs being started.

Major Guard can be purchased from any GM dealer. To save big dollars, buy it from me here at Fichtner Chevrolet. Many dealers mark up Major Guard beyond GM Suggested Retail Prices by several hundred dollars. We sell every plan at a discount saving you hundreds of dollars!! Major Guard is honored Nationwide and it doesn’t matter where you buy the plan.

Irrelevant cricketing comments aside, the timing of the warranty introduction and Land Rover Australia's lack of information to ub2 over that same period are at the heart of his complaint. I spoke to the dealer where I found the brochure and did not in any way get the notion of a grace period. Buy it before 3 years/ 100,000kms or else was their assertion, backed up by no mention of a grace period on the brochure that I am reading now. I won't be calling Allianz to talk to a call centre somewhere like the Phillipines and waste an hour of my life for no result....been there, done that. I have read all the posts and didn't get the impression that ub2 had questioned your integrity? I did however pick up some inconsistencies in your post. First you stated something about a 'vacuum between his ears', then later mentioned 'what few brain cells you have'. Surely these are contradictory, or were they just inappropriate analogies? After all, you proudly state of speaking the truth. I thought the later kick to ev's knackers was just the icing on the cake. Is that another analogy? I hope that it's appropriate.
To end on an irrelevant cricketing comment, well done to the Poms, our butts are well and truly kicked...too good.

Firstly I am sorry for the delay in responding to your post - I do like to be timely in my actions however on this occasion you raised an number of issues that required verification first and due to the holiday period this took sometime to get a response from those in South East Asia in the companies concerned (LR & Allianz) with whom I have personally known for a number of years. Nonetheless it is now business as usual. So onto the deficiencies, guesswork and falsehoods in your propositions:

1: Call Centre or other operations: Allianz has currently no presence in the Pillipines.
2: Re your post 31Dec 4:58pm Quote: "As far as I know, it wasn't available in Australia 3 months ago when ub2's warranty ran out." Allianz & LR confirm that the product was launched 2nd week July 2010.
3: My inconsistencies: If you have ever read the works of Prof. Stephen Hawking you will observe that he states that even black holes and vacuums have "matter" therein; they are not entirely empty. My reference to "brain cells" and "between the ears" were not an analogy but an appropriate reference to one's intelligence ipso facto their (Ub2 & EV's) ability to progress their disputes in a timely and cogent manner i.e their ineptitude.
4: Analogies: I did not make any - I stated facts - not comparisons.
5: My reference to cricket was entirely appropriate. A core constraint within Ub2's original post was the issue of the time of product availability - a timeframe contingent. I made also a timeframe contingent relating to my activities re the New Year period not only to watch cricket but to celebrate with my family. This whole thread has been about timeframes. Certainly not, and i quote:"about Freddy betting on a race" (your post 31 Dec 4:58hrs)

Finally:
a) it is clear, now that it is known LR / Allianz Assured Extended Warranty product was launched in Australia mid July 2010 that Ub2 has been poorly served by his local dealer (if, he has stated his circumstances correctly). Should he have documented evidence that proves the date of his enquiries then he could, if he desires, progress the matter vigorously and directly with LR Australia Head of Dealer Network. Otherwise he does have an opportunity to take out one of the many other 3rd Party warranty insurance programmes available in Australia.

b) Ub2's circumstances should be a clear lesson to everyone globally that they must never take at face value what your local car dealer tells you. There is lots of evidence here on Freel2 of the disinformation that has been disseminated from dealer networks on various subjects. Check and cross reference time and again. A dealership is only as good as its people and the level of training investment those employees receive. LR try to ensure high professional dealership standards, but cannot be on the ground every minute of every day monitoring their performance. Recruitment mistakes do happen - inappropriate people are sometimes employed in the wrong post.

c) And, just like all car manufacturers, LR tailors its offerings to suit the conditions of each and every market. So the terms of qualification & limitation of their extended warranties globally will differ. Don't cry foul play - it's entirely appropriate and sensible from an engineering prospective.

I read blah blah blah Stephen Hawkins.....that would be Stephen Hawking I presume? I don't know a Stephen Hawkins. Just another error I suppose. Anyway, I'm sure he didn't theorize the possibility of brain cell sized matter in his vacuum but I wouldn't really know or care. So the reference to the vacuum between the ears wasn't an analogy...it was a fact backed up by modern science. I bow to Hawking's brain cells in a vacuum theory however obscure. I'll now get back to reading the telephone book which I am finding far more interesting, although I did like Junior's comment when he called me a toilet head.
