Wales is brilliant for vanning, and there are so many places to go to that it would take me ages to write it all down. However, Pembry Country Park is a highlight - excellent facilities, set in a huge public country park, that is right on miles of sandy beach - very safe for kids.

Yep, Caravan at Three Cliffs Bay, Gower. Recomended.

Here we go, start a riot time - South Wales people are meant to be more hospitable than North Wales folk for some reason. I've been to both and certainly what I saw backed this up.

No if you really want to start a riot you could always imply that the inhabitants of North Wales feel as if they have to proove they are Welsh by being more Censored , in South Wales they seem more welcoming.

We went to Conway Touring park this year, crammed full of Scouse families, parents let thier children do as they wished while drinking heavily and shouting till the early hours. Woken at 6am two mornings by footballs bouncing off the front window.

Have spents many summers camping and caravanning in Towyn, loved it, locals were friendly, and didn,t revert to welsh seconds after you walk into the pub/shop/chippy. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Good thing about van sites is that they divert all the rif-raf away from my preferred holiday choice Bow down At work

To be brutally honest, and this is I admit a generality - that of all the nationalities I have met in my global travels the Welsh have been the most miserable folk I have ever encountered anywhere.

Therefore, if you have to go to Wales my recommendations would be: Fishguard & Holyhead for an escape to Ireland, likewise Caldicot for a fast exit via M4 Severn Bridge to England. The Devil's Bridge if your driven to suicide whilst on your vanner's vacation, top of that hill "Snowdon" because your not very likely to meet anyone Welsh up there and Dan-yr-Ogof Caves for the very same reason down there. Aberystwyth if you are really in search of a Welsh University but why you'd want one is unfathomable, and the nearest haberdashery as you'll always be in need of warm clothes and rainwear. And finally a good pub to drown all your sorrows having realized too late, that you've made one hell of a big holiday mistake. Big Cry

Athelstan, do you like anyone?

Nick, get your bookings done next month for Freshwater East, but you will need to get it done early, getting a pitch there is like getting one at Rowntree Park or seeing CG at a caravan dealership, sorry couldn't resist pinching your line. Thumbs Up

Oh yes indeed - many folks also enlist my friendship. My chums list reads like a UN gathering, and this may surprise you - at least one for sure is in the habit of towing a caravan. Maybe there are others, who are a little shy as yet, to converse about their covert pastime.

None taken.
I speak as I find and expect others to do so without fear or favour. The "Vanner" I know is an absolute gent - he'd go the extra mile again and again even for grumpy old toads like me. He'd probably go to Wales again and again just to show no malice and keep wife n kids happy. Wink Me, nah. Wink

Definately worth visiting, I recommend that you go further west than Swansea, plenty of good caravan sites around Narbeth, New Hedges and Saundersfoot.

Oakwood theme is a great day out and you MUST take your liitle uns to Folly Farm, another great day.

Beautiful beaches at Bosherton and Barafundle bay.

P.S We are friendlier down the South.......
