Hi Vespa

quoted your price to my local dealer (not a hundred miles from Huddersfield- in fact not 25 miles). Was told that if I could buy one at that price then they would have 10 as well. Now I know that they tell sales fibs but he suggested that they ( H LR) would be making a loss on this.

Did you get this price with a P/ex or was it a sraight cash deal. I have also assumed that 'new' means that it wasn't a demo car???

Anyone know what the dealer margins are on new FL2's - I've seen various posts but nothing too committed.
Can anyone shed any light??? There's always a way forward!

Indeed, that would constitute a commercial loss although a few more £000's would break even. There are very few onsold vehicles out there, therefore if you get a good price then make sure that the dealer has a car (ask for the chassis number).

We've only got a handful of FL2's between now and the end of May!

James Thumbs Up

I had the same comments from my local dealers initially as I was using drivethedeal prices (which at the time were even a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than what I ultimateley paid). I think it was Carnoch that mentioned a price obtained from LR Huddersfield, which armed with this waited until the end of the month I then negotiated the deal over the phone.

The vehicle was a brand new factory order (not a demo) and a cash deal (no p/x or finance).

LR Huddersfield admitted they could not achieve the drivethedeal price but the price they came back to me with was only a couple of hundred pounds more. Because I knew who I would be dealing with (rather than drivethedeal choosing for me) I gave them the business. Its just a shame LR Huddersfield are not close enough to consider for aftersales/servicing as I found them to be excellent from placing the order right through to picking up.

Thanks chaps

James - does your '£000!' mean thousands or hundreds or just pounds! Whistle Thanks for the heads up on the chassis number and the stock availabilty. I'll bear that in mind. Smile

Sounds like Vespa's set the target now lets see how close we can get - 14.9% discount Mr. Green - sounds like a big ask but then again it doesn't sound like a big mark up for a re-sale of anything! But as James says this is a 'commercial' loss and I guess that will depend on dealers overheads??

Checked second hand availabilty across the UK on LR website and there doesn't appear to be that many FL2's about and those that are have high asking prices. Lets see how it goes. There's always a way forward!

Drowned Rat, I'd leave it a few months if you can. Stock is low just now and prices maintained. It's your typical supply and demand equillibrium. Madam Fifi says this will change, trust me. After all I am not a stealer who's after your hard earnt pennies Wink

Cheers Carnoch - i'll ebar this in mind.
Just noticed that current PCP offer ends at the end of this month also - lets see what comes along.
If the price is right then I might be tempted if I can get them to hold the prices at both ends....
Still got a nother 12 mnths on the current car before I need to stump up some cash so I'm in no hurry. Thumbs Up There's always a way forward!

Expectations are that the present PCP deals will continue into the second quarter.

Up to you, but I haven't jumped ship yet, although come close. I mean, it's easy for me to say the 2 year old FL2 is the deposit on new and the other 7k at zero percent in 2 years, but I believe that conditions will be better for deals if you hold fire. Hold your nerve!

As a matter of interest, I think you should be able to better the price of a black and white with an S model and if you add a couple of extra packs, it would end up the same price. So don't fret if you don't get one. An ordinary s would pick up a better second hand price too.

Best quote so far £29258 a discount of £6022 (17%ish) from Drive the Deal

I'm playing the waiting game at the moment too. The above quote for a well specced HSE, only applied to cars ordered, registered and paid for by 31 March 2009. Discounts available from April will depend on Land Rover's 2nd quarter offerings to the dealers.

Lets hope the Springtime deals are at least as "generous" Laughing

update from dealers - they want my car and are willing to pay top dollar for it (sorry James) only problem is that there are so few cars available that they are having problems discounting prices (as no throughput) they are willing but its a sellers market.

Dealer most apologetic and suggestde that april would be a better month Wink

He is happy to deal but in his words 'its like having a shop with nothing in it to sell'.

So lets see how it goes in April.

Also found out that max cash deposit they can take ona PCP is 30% apparently so they get you on the interest on the monthly payment even if you have a large deposit. Think i got around it last time by negotiation price down so it fitted my monthly figure but don't remember disccussing that specifically.

Can anyone else confirm this??

Just a warning on Gap insurance - read the small print. Dealer bundled mine in as incentive last time telling me that this will cover shortfall if car written off in three years. In reality this one covers you for max of £10k only. Another salesman told another customer same yesterday - miss-selling - be careful there!!!

Hopefully a 3 year APP will reappear!!! with 50% deposit - now that would be grand!

Vespa - LRHuddersfield - which dealer is that or is it Huddersfield LR the independent garage???? If its a dealership can you supply me with copy of sales docket - my Local LR dealership will match it!!! Thumbs Up There's always a way forward!

LR Freeelander 2 auto diesel HSE

I have been looking around for the last few weeks to get the best deal for SWTSMBO's Freelander 2.

We decided on a new 10 reg HSE auto diesel in black red or blue. have tried few dealers and altho some indicate they will deal they do not seem to have the stock cars phisicaly in their showrooms for march del!.
couple of ex demos about or some GS models and of course the black and white £20k ones but not the exact model we seek.

Got to the point where we almost gave up of a fl2 and started to look at Mercedes C class and perguet 3008 !

Have decided to wait and see what Q2 deals bring before we place the order. we have narrowed it down to a choice of two LR dealers .

You know a new FL2 is just begging for a Group Buy. If we could offer a dealer a dozen sales, I bet the discount would be good.

That apart, I agree, lets wait until at least Q2/Q3 offers.

Another of my posts re face lift model speculation that some agree with and other say I am talking out of my ar*e, anyway, there is a theory that says if LR are facelifting the FL2 anytime soon, why over produce for the market now? Business being business, if the demand is there, then a manufacturer will meet it unless there is good reason. That hasn't been the case recently. Ask yourself why? Time will tell.

What a good idea...I would imagine 10 sales would be a great incentive for a dealer or a Group of dealers??

Im waiting until next month Q2 to see what changes maybe even Q3 I wont buy until I get a great deal....(or I will just hang on to my money-SWTSMBO will just have to wait for her new car!)
