Quentin Wilson was on one of the news channels a few weeks ago and suggested the 'start the car with one key/fob' and 'lock the car with the other' idea........ was put well and truely in his place when the news reader asked whether this would void your insurance policy if someone put the window through and drove off 'with the keys in'. |

Sorry cannot help to compare as we have only ever used Eberspacher, as for the fitting of them if they want the work they will fit one. It is suprising how many vehicles have them especially in the transport industry, I expect when CG gets his chicks delivered they are heated for transport, not as much as the heat they will get when he sells them though Even the sandwich vans that travel around the business parks have them to keep the saugerolls warm even the Florist local to me has one in his delivery van. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Leave your car running whilst locked in the garage-with Quentin Wilson cable tied in the boot. solve two problems at once |

The drivers in the trucks that collect the chucks all have cab heaters as without them they have to leave the truck engines ticking over to keep the cab warmed while they are waiting to load/sleeping between shifts.

Also here in Switzerland (not on"base" models) only those with the "Winter Packet" like my Newport model and operates as Alex has said. Alex - do you get the smell of diesel fuel inside your FL2 Just recently when mine kicks-in there's a smell of diesel, and if I use the screen wash I can smell that as well. Didn't happen before. I'm wondering what's influencing this to happen - any ideas anyone |

It smells of diesel because the exhust fumes from the FBH come through from the engine bay area - quite normal |

I've got the burnt diesel smell only first time, probably when the system initiated from new. And a lot of white smoke too, maybe because it took a while to prime itself and start burning. But after that never, or almost never, maybe just an "idea of smell" sometimes. The exhaust is just in the back of the front right wheel and maybe because of that it is easy for the exhaust fumes to be absorbed by the ventilation, being favorised by the wind and air circulation outside the car. But I verified for a couple of times, by sticking the hand in front of the FFBH exaust, during its functioning on maximum power, and the exhaust fumes are odorless. Just some condensation on the hand, but no smelly hand. Oh, and just a slightly cooked hand one time. I don't know if it is related with the quality of diesel used (I am using regular diesel, not premium) or by the fact that I am using from new 2T oil addition to the diesel and the burning byproducts are very little... |

The smell of burnt diesel generally appears only when the combustion process is incomplete.
