Remote Warming

I see that the new Disco 4 has this remote warming facility so you can start your car and let it de-frost while ,I presume, the vehicle is still locked and cannot be stolen. If you use one key fob to start the car and the other to lock it then surely this will do the job instead of spending the £978 that Land Rover wants on the Disco! Am I missing something?? Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

remote heating is from a small fuel burning heater, not from starting the engine, it warms the cabin and possible the engines coolant too for better starting.

I think the heater is a webasto

I am curious whether the new stop/start motors won't let it idle for long periods - does it cut-out when it has warmed up? Or does it need a bum on the seat / person operating the pedals etc. After all, it does not (yet!) know if you are standing outside scraping the windows whilst argueing with the coppers or sitting at home having a cuppa. Anyone with one tried it?

it wont stop/start until the engine is warm, so in theory you could start the engine go in for a cuppa and the car will then stop once warm...not likely though Confused and a ticking over diesel engine would take ages to reach full temp anyway At work

I saw in the paper that a hotel is employing human bed warmers, dressed in all over body suits to warms guests beds for then Shocked , perhaps you could have your manservant pop out to the car of a morning and warm it for you, after he has polished your shoes and ironed your newspaper of course Thumbs Up At work

You could also have the remote auxillery heater on a Freelander 1 TD4 from late 2000 but for some reason Landrover didn't fit it to the Freelander 2 - well actually they did if you live in Russia Rolling with laughter

I really wanted this feature which I'm sure most of us would have if it were available.... (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

You can have a similar product at work, made by Eberspacher http://www.eberspacher.com/products/ works well for us saves hours in downtime. It will run all night and use about a litre of diesel. cost about £850 fitted unless you go for the super duper clock timer programmer. You can also have it plumbed into the engine water system also. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Surley, if it is possible to start the car (activated by the the key fob Question ) but with the car still locked, then the steering lock would also be activated and stealing the car would be (near) impossible Question 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.
