Belgium 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Santorini Black

Don't think there are much stock cars for quite a while now. I bought mine in februari last year and got a TD4_e delivered in april. They only started production on the _e in march so if they did have a lot of stock I don't think they would have given me an _e.

Also when they checked what was in stock at the importers they had maybe 10 cars with only 1 being a black one which was already reserved at the time.

Fair enough, but even accepting that and I am a bit dubious, there will be some dealers willing to take a cut in profit margain and others that won't. All, we as punters are looking for is the best deal around. I don't need plasma TV's and leather suits in the reception area. Salesmen or sorry, sales executives in plus fours and leather patches on tweed jackets.

Come on guys spill the beans!

I like others users on this forum are looking for a good deal at the moment, the easiest thing in the world is to go through a broker to do the donkey work (I know because thats how i bought my last car). However it would be nice to know your individual experiences and what discounts you mansged to negotiate to give prospective buyers (like myself) an idea of what is an achievable realistic deal for a new FL2.

I can't understand why people on here will not say what they paid/discount they got, does it really matter to you as you have already done your deal???

Turkey 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Stornoway Grey

I don't know the cheapest, but mine could be the most expensive.

I had a 12% off the local price list, which amounts to 60.000 € incl. taxes. Shocked

Giving the discount is good, including the price OTR after discount would be better. Could people also say where they got it and whom they dealt with. I am assuming no one signed the Official Secrets Act or signed a document saying they would have to hand back the car if they ever disclosed these details. It's not like we are asking for your bank details. Even sold houses you can find out how much people paid on the internet, so why be coy about a car? In the end it could mean some dealership could get a lot of business and then their profits would be based on bulk sales rather than screwing the individual. It's our chance to do something for ourselves and not relying on the good nature of a salesman or dealership, which lets face it, are in business to make money out of selling a car to you, never mind the trade in! and before you feel sorry for them, I know someone that had to cash sell, his 2009MY FL2 XS, under 15k miles on the clock, for 16.1k back to the LR dealer. Bet you won't find that one under 20k on the forecourt!

Cheers, twodogs. This all help others negotiate a deal and for some that means the difference between models or having a FL2 or not.

Was that for an auto or man, 'e' or not? With or without trade in and if with trade in, did you get book price or less?

If only we could try a Group Buy, maybe half a dozen to start with, the power we would have.

Not a problem, as you say "it's no big secret"

I have had a Defender, a FL1 & FL2 from the
same dealer, infact I allways see the same
salesman...

I haggle hard and play dealer of against dealer,
this works for me.

Had a look at a new Skoda Octavia Scout for the
wife and NO Skoda dealer would deal !!!!

What happened to all the rows upon rows of FL2 stacked up in a massive car park that we saw on the news last year? I wouldn't think they managed to sell them all.

A 2.5% rise in VAT made them all disappear probably, it's the same with RRS too, dealers have little stock and there is a lead in time at the factory too. The recent weather has also created added demand from people having to replace their useless fake 4x4's with the real thing. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green

The VAT is out of our control. In honesty, it wasn't an incentive to buy, you know 250 quid for every 10k. I agree, better than nothing. Yes, demand will have risen for LR due to panic buying re the weather, but then we should get more if we trade in, assuming we had a LR to start with.
