Hi All

Just saying a courteous ‘hello’ after joining…

I’m active on another Land Rover site as I own an F1 TD4 HSE, but new to this site as I’m just in the process of buying an F2 also. It’s a known vehicle and I’m confident in it, but will need some help and advice in the ongoing preventative maintenance, odd jobs and servicing of it going forward.

More dancing pixies in an F2 for a start…!

Some of the guys on here will know of me already.

Cheers

Hi Fred.
You find lots of knowledgeable owners on here and we can all learn from each, you seem to have gone down the road most of us have FL1 then move onto an FL2 welcome and enjoy.

Hello everyone,

I've recently been offered a "free" 58 Freelander 2 td4, if I want to fix it. It's from a family member so I know about its recent history. Over the years it has had work done to make it through MOTs, but nothing beyond that,

It has a number of ordinary faults - busted CV and boot, leaking shock absorber, faulty hand brake, failed door lock mechanism, broken tailgate switch, leaking rear diff etc. Rust on the body in and around all of the shock mounts, which i've never come across before, and a landrover-esque fault of failure to start when temperature is less than 2C.

The family member with it has decided that they don't want to put anything else into this car and have bought a replacement.

I need to take a close look at everything and decide if it's worth putting the time and money into it to make it right.

I'm no stranger to LR. We own a Discovery and Defender TD5, and a Freelander 1 already. My potential Freelander 2 journey has started by joining this forum and ordering a clone mongoose cable.

Hi All

Thought I'd register here, trying to fix ABS Module of a FL2 2011 2.2L Diesel ( SALFA2BD9BH****** );
no crank ; needing replacement.

Already gotten a lot of info from past posts here related to my problem.

Would try SDD route as per https://www.freel2.com/forum/post429876.html#429876
That is as soon as diagnostic tool arrive.

Any help would be much appreciated - like how to "virginize" Shocked an ABS module.

Thanks all
Mann

Welcome to all newcomers (and old viewers that we did not know about).

I suggest that all problems that need attention are given a new Posting (Thread) titled with a clear idea of the problem, or given a new Posting on already existing relevant Thread.
Please also do not forget to let us know, on that Thread, how the problem was eventually resolved, it helps us all.

The 'Welcome Page (thread)' is not as regularly checked for interesting problems. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Evening all! 👋👋

Long time lurker, first time poster.

The proud owner of a FL2, 2010, HSE with nearly 140,000 miles on the clock. In the garage tomorrow for yet another rear shock absorber. Also in need of 4 new tires. Seemingly costing me a fortune each year but I’m absolutely smitten! 🥰

Brilliant car! 🤘

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi all. 2013 Freelander 2 XS purchased last week. Only 41K on the clock, got my first problems already. Engine management light on, stumbling, low power, red triangle lights up then goes into limp mode. Limp mode clears on stopping and restarting the engine but engine management on all the time.

Hoping it's just a fuel filter issue as the fuel level was low at the time, but fearing turbo problems. Also noticed when pulling over when the red triangle came on that the power steering groans on full lock.

Got a sinking feeling about this car...

Gear shift

Hi,
I've just bought a Freelander 2 2012 automatic.
The gear shift button doesn't depress, yet you can still move through the gears. It seems a little stiff. Is this okay or not? I see others have had similar problems. Is it a problem? Or is it likely to become problematic?

Don’t think the gear shift is a problem, Take the the gear knob off replace the spring and replace, videos online.
