I think Ive got it sorted now - spent about 3 hours on the phone yesterday in total.

All became a bit Kafka-like. Felt like I was going round in circles - Black Circles Laughing

Black Circles (BC) requested pics of the wrong tyres, which I duly sent.
The promised response never came.

Rang BC back. BC now needed further confirmation from the fitter, Mr Tyre (MT).

Rang BC back 2 hours later. BC still awaiting conformation from MT.

Rang BC back another 2 hours later. No confirmation from MT because BC agents were unable to make contact with MT.

I rang MT (5-10 min wait on the answering service). MT had received no phone call from BC. I asked the MT chap to ring BC but they couldn't/wouldn't do that.

Rang BC back. Eventually persuaded BC ("had to be escalated to a supervisor") to book the new tyres in for Saturday without getting verbal confirmation from BT, using their on-line booking system. They could have done this at the beginning of the day !

The underlying problem is that the BC agents dont seem to wait long enough for the MT answering system to connect them through to a person.

Other irritations being :
- having to go through the security questions each time you ring
- and of course explain everything to a different agent - based in another continent by the sound of things.
- and I'm sick of being asked "How are you doing today"

Today: Despite having an email from BC that a slot had been allocated to me and tyres ordered, the fitter knew nothing of this. He was able to allocate a slot to me manually.
I then contacted BC (yet again) to demand confirmation that the tyres would actually be at the fitters for the correct date.
So fingers crossed I get it all sorted tomorrow. Jules

Good luck Jules.

These days and for a number of years following indescribably abysmal service from a Formula 1 sort of autocentre, I buy car and caravan tyres from Camskill and take them to our local one man tyre fitting yard.

One exception was in 2021 when I had Kwikfit come to the house and fit a set of Goodyear Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 which are still in very good order and I remain pleased with.

I made a formal complaint about the dire communication between BC and Mr Tyre. BC are all apologetic.

Having been there today whilst the tyres were exchanged I can see the main issue. The guys are really busy working flat out pretty much. There is no one to answer the phone. The guys answer the phone and tend to emails as they finish a job and start the next.
Customers have to be lucky to get their phone call answered - it was ringing constantly most of the time I was there - about 90 mins. Jules

Glad you got there. Now was the savings worth all the hassle? When I had an issue with BC, I decided it just wasn't worth my time to save a few £ per tyre.

When I need tyres I just phone round all the local tyre firms tell them what I wan't (always go for BF Goodrich) see who has them or can get them and go for the best deal, usually its my nearest one in Sandhurst which is part of The Micheldever tyre network that has the best deal and their reputation is very good, checked my tracking and did not charge me when I had four fitted few yrs ago. 2013 FL2 XS.

There was a 10% saving on the Michelin which meant they were cheaper (just) than the GY Wrangler. I also wanted a 4 wheel alignment which not all tyre centres provide.

But I doubt I'll be using BC or that tyre centre again.

Interestingly, the boss at the Mr Tyre centre said he uses Asda tyres. I would have gone there had it not been for the Michelin offer with BC. Jules

Glad its sorted - I gave up on Mr Tyre a little while ago after us as a family having used them since the 80's. Similar reasons to your issues!

I would just like to finish off this thread by saying these new tyres have made a huge difference - the car is now so much quieter. Coming up the M6 today was almost pleasurable. Laughing

The old tyres (Nokian Weatherproof) had , in retrospect, caused an increasing whine from the rear, such that I was suspecting a wheel bearing or rear diff to be the cause. Was going to investigate next week but now no need.

One forgets just how noisy worn tyres can become in the FL2. Jules

Had a phone call from Black Circles - they wanted to know the details of my complaint.
Black Circles have now offered me a £75 refund, 15% off next purchase of 4 four tyres and £10 Aldi voucher.
Which was nice. Jules
