Welcome 👍
Always good to get the haldex oil and filter changed for continued reliability.
Remove the pump and make sure the filter screen isn't blocked too. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Haldex pulled off and oil and filter clean. I think it's never been used off road.

Thank you for my welcome once my prop is back on and exhaust I will be more chatty 😂

The haldex still operates, providing 4wd when you move off from a standstill and then backs off to virtually 2wd as speed increases so the clutches and oil still wear and degrade over time even if you don't actually select any terrain response modes. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hello all. Great site!

I have just bought a 2007 TD4 HSE for a very reasonable sum knowing it needs work. Have already removed and serviced the Haldex. In the next week or so it'll get new fluids everywhere, cambelt and waterpump, second earth strap and more.
It has a fault related to ABS on the N/S/R that I am trying to get to the bottom of hopefully with your help!

Hi all,

I have just joined this forum and a new owner of a Freelander 2 and also new to home mechanics. So far, completed my first ever oil/filter change, replaced front wheel bearing (but bought as a complete hub), replaced tailgate button/switch, replaced Egr valve and now I am having to replace a rear wheel bearing. All the threads on here have really helped me, much better than just watching you tube clips of people showing how easy apparently it is! When in real life all the issues on here have what I have come across. Needless to say I have built up large amount of tools and confidence to take on more work. Though a question of someone knows, why does the Freelander 2 have two different rear axle nuts? Of course the wrong one was in the bearing set I bought!

Never heard of this. I doubt it came from the factory like that, suspect its had a cv joint replaced at some stage with a non genuine part and a different sized nut. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thanks for the reply Bobupndown. Did I bit of research and there were two nuts M24 x 1.5mm or M24 x 2mm. Looks like mine is the 2mm version but typically the Moog bearing I bought came with the 1.5mm version. Also looks like I ruined some threads hitting the end of the cv when getting it out of the hub. New challenge. Hopefully thread clean will work, fingers crossed.

Hi Alfow, I had an abs fault and was due to the front bearing humming/needing replacing. Sent the special functions crazy also but it sorted it out.
