Everything depends on where you live I'm in Spain but on a cloudy day I'm lucky to get 1kW/hr with a 4.6kW solar array and I get at least 8 hours sunlight /day in mid winter, my daughter lives in Scotland and needs 16 panel array and a battery to make it pay as well as a night tariff, that just ain't cheap, definitely no change for a BEV but a 10year old Focus diesel estate suffices, probably saves more CO2 than buying another car, the trees in the garden probably offsets even more, she does have an acre of oaks and birch.

Depends on how much cash you have even if you're 80 you can still benefit though life is finite the actual date isn't promulgated in advance. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The older someone is the quicker the return needs to be. At 80 I think that there is little chance of getting your money back. If the cash was in a bank it would be giving some return, unless it was to spend money to get below a threshold to be able to claim more benefits, like free care at home etc |

Currently the payback period is 5 or 6 years, and they add more value to a house than they cost, so the payback is technically immediate should the worst happen. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The original purchaser might not benefit, but also might as some people live to 100. However as the house value goes up a few % with solar on the roof, the family will benefit later on, even if the original purchaser doesn't. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. I guess it highlights some people must use a lot more electric then others. We had one of those community solar group things say it was over 10 grand plus any other extra if scaffolding different to normal etc, plus loss of interest that would of been earned. We definitely don’t use that much electric in 5 or 6 years. Love your optimism for living to a 100 and avoiding dementia, cancer etc or not ending up in a care home. Still think it’s better suited to younger people. |

Just a thought but if the London ULEZ thing happens in August this year you would expect a lot of people to start offloading non compliant vehicles over the summer so as long as you don't live in another clean air area eg Bristol, Bath etc there might be some good FL2 deals as the prices fall. Any thoughts? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It's already getting priced in on trade values. It will take a while before people are prepared to take the "hit" on their possibly inflated expectations when selling privately, but as some of the supply issues with new cars start ironing out, I anticipate we'll see this start to work through to asking prices. And the HMRC rubs its hands in glee as IHT breaks new records - but that's another can of worms. Jules |

I must admit investing 10 grand and getting 2 grand a year for the rest of your life sounds good, but is that real or just Internet talk. Harry’s farm did a good review on his solar and he ain’t short of a Bob or 2. He keeps records etc and said what they claim it will generate is no where near what it actually does. |

If they are dead then I don`t think they will be too worried about the lack of return unless you have found a way of taking it with you when you go! |

No, but they could have spent their money on something more enjoyable.
