Armco was never designed for a head on crash, it is designed to allow a vehicle to rub down it in the event of an angled impact, the head on impact of an F1 car at 140 mph is far greater than a 44 ton truck leaving a motorway at 60 mph and hitting the barrier, though normally the support posts gradually fail to lessen the point load. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I think that the TV pictures do not allow us to truly appreciate how fast these cars are going. The deceleration involved in hitting a barrier almost head on must be colossal.

Presuminably everyone he's been in close contact with will have to self isolate individually - that will affect a lot of the team I'd have thought. Jules |

F1 have a very intensive testing routine for Covid19 so all of his contacts will be rigorously tested, Thursday to Sunday and I suspect Hamilton himself will be retested just in case it was a false positive. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

So to be cynical maybe Hamilton's results are more to do with machine than ability? 🤔 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

"As for now, watch how he controls his pace, and looks after the car and tyres, and still wins."

It's only practice, it has thrown up wobblies before, Bottas usually reigns top on Fridays, Hamilton on Saturdays and Sundays, today Bottas had a damaged car the in 2nd practice his quickest was disallowed for track limits, it is a track that no one has used before in F1 as a total track. The proof will be Sunday and though Russell is quicker in practice it doesn't mean he is the same or quicker than Hamilton or that the car will enable anyone to win, that was so then Bottas would be a lot closer to Hamilton on points, if Russell wins on Sunday then we may have another Hamiltonesque driver and if he is lucky in team selection he is young enough to beat Hamilton's records, however let's wait until the fat lady sings on Sunday. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
