Or perhaps the guys who design the car? There was a guy on the news this afternoon saying that in the old days it was perhaps 80% driver and 20% car and now it's 80% car and 20% driver. I know that the best drivers get a % extra out of any car but for me the constructors championship is what it's all about. Remember the Williams team who were head of the field for years ? Frank Williams used to get of rid of drivers that became too successful as he didn't want to spend too much of his budget on driver wages. When Damon Hill became world champion and moved to Arrows after being kicked out of Williams he was nowhere. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto 5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE |

Lewis Hamilton has confirmed he will continue racing to help anti-racism agenda... Nothing at all to do with earning £40M a year then |

You generally don’t get to be the best or a world champion by being a nice bloke. You need determination and the desire to beat all others at any costs at the expense of sometime family and friendships. Even so-called nice blokes you see on tv aren’t really that nice in real life. They can’t afford to be. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |

I think that Hamilton's achievement is as good as Schumacher, after all Schumacher was the lead nominated driver and the second driver always had to defer to team orders. But I agree very much with dorsetfreelander's comment Or perhaps the guys who design the car? There was a guy on the news this afternoon saying that in the old days it was perhaps 80% driver and 20% car and now it's 80% car and 20% driver. I know that the best drivers get a % extra out of any car but for me the constructors championship is what it's all about. Remember the Williams team who were head of the field for years ? Frank Williams used to get of rid of drivers that became too successful as he didn't want to spend too much of his budget on driver wages. When Damon Hill became world champion and moved to Arrows after being kicked out of Williams he was nowhere. There are hundreds of people backing these drivers, both at the circuit and back in the factory. Everything is monitored, not only for the driver (and his car), but everything else to do with the circuit conditions and positions/performance of all other drivers. so you want the Queen to give him a medal that reminds him of how the Empire treated his ancestors ? GBE, KBE or DBE (Knight or Dame) - Knight or Dame of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire CBE - Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire OBE - Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire MBE - Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire all these medals are British Empire era I would like to see him given a medal for outstanding service in sport/his sport. NOT something that reminds him of the past. (of which no one can change). |
