I remember seeing Lewis Hamilton in a GP2 race where following an incident that left him trailing the field, he overtook car after car, in quick succession, to regain his position.
It was very impressive and I knew then he was a special driver, as he went on to win the GP2 Championship, in his first and only year in that category.

Following my post on Glock helping Lewis get 'given' his first world title......

A Spanish athlete is being applauded on social media after he sacrificed a top tier win in the 2020 Santander Triathlon to give it to a competitor who took a wrong turn on the course.

Though a few think Glock slowed for Hamilton to win the championship, why would he? Glock wasn't the only one not to change to wets Hamilton did and was considerably faster through the last bend. What was more of question was Hamiltons first year when he should have won, the weired decision in China not to change tyres and that very odd gearbox problem that suddenly sorted itself, Bernie Ecclestone said it would be bad for F1 if Hamilton won in a rookie year, so he didn't and just to be fair neither did Alonso, Kimi lucked in, another one of those F1 years where the not chosen one lucked out or was done out. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

How many remember when Lewis got his first World Championship title ? It was GIFTED to him by Timo Glock, who slowed down in the final lamp to allow Lewis to over take him, causing Lewis to increase his points in the top ten of that race and the overall championship.

All other World titles Lewis won, on driving merit !!

So in total Lewis has won 5 and was 'given' 1.

I can't agree.

If you look at this video clip you can see that Timo Glock is being passed by most other cars because he is on the wrong tyres.

Looking at this I doubt that anyone could have driven faster (look at the lack of traction and oversteer) than he did.

His team made the wrong choice by not stopping to change tyres as conditions changed.

Lewis Hamilton won the championship fair and square on the total points gained during the year.

Ian I respect you and your knowledge on Freelander 2.

I have already declared that I watch F1 for the Strategy, not a team or a driver.

As today would have been the Singapore grand prix, but cancelled.

It reminds me of the again 2008, Singapore 'crash'.

quote " Nelson Piquet Jr, deliberately crashed during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, to give a sporting advantage to his Renault teammate Fernando Alonso."

These things happen, although they don't always come to light.

Thumbs Up

That's more cheating than strategy.

Cheating and Strategy, follows a very fine line.

Here is a good read, especially No1 when Ferrari specifications were 'found' at McLaren's HQ.

There has always been copying in F1, to what degree seems to have been tightened up, thre was no action taken way back in the ground effect days when Williams managed to get their car very right after Lotus introduced the technology with the 76, a Lotus employee was found with a tape measure in the back of Williams truck measuring Alan Jones car, don't remember any fines in those days, perhaps that was when the regulations changed and copying became illegal to defined areas.
There was little or no copying before the wing era, if there was then the Cooper mid engine may have been outlawed to all others, however in those days it was in the interests of the sport to have similar performing cars, unlike today. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Yeah - I was watching when they replaced them and the arrows looked wrong to me Rolling with laughter

Also confused as to why Hamilton was allowed to take his 2x 5 second penalties at the same time - I thought only one penalty could be served at a time - not that I have read the rule book ofc Shocked 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Honda’s departure really messes up the RB teams. Can’t see Merc or Ferrari wanting to supply them.
Sucks a bit really, they haven’t been back long. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

Can't see Red Bull wanting Ferrari engine, I not sure Ferrari Team want a Ferrari engine.!

I may be back to Renault, with a begging bowl.

Not sure Red Bull could afford to build their own.
