Still pretty expensive. Personally my car will never be out of the UK just to the odd trip to the Republic of Ireland. I don’t need maps of Macedonia. Couldn’t they just make a map of the UK and Ireland. I’m sure it would sell.

Ironically ggb we bought the Europe upgrade but it failed to upload properly. I was told that to rectify the problem we needed to upload the road map for Turkey which we did and there's been no issue with it since.
I agree that a solely UK map would be useful for someone such as yourself - prior to Covid we drove into Europe annually and Significant Other has a sister in Switzerland, so wouldn't have helped us.
We're OK if we ever go to Turkey though Rolling with laughter

FL2 Search Country Belgium

Hi

newbie here, I have a 2013 FL2 with the same issues as Kae Otic - search country defaults to Belgium - will not store any locations or 'Home' and defaults back when ignition is turned off. I have seen the bulletin suggesting that his could either be software or hardware - my question is, has anybody with the issue tried the firmware update using the usb stick and how did it go ? thanks in advance - any help would be most helpful as stumped.

Given that we'll be staying a lot closer to home the next few years Big Cry think I'll leave the update for now. If I can't navigate the A and B roads of the UK with what I have i'd be safer staying at home anyway Laughing

My mapping updates go on my Garmin Zumo595LM which is free and lifetime. I suction cup it to the bottom right of the windscreen if I want to go anywhere unknown. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Hi All,

Thanks for the add, good to know there are forums like this to help numpties like me.

I want to upgrade to the latest maps on my 2014 FL2 HSE. I'm ok paying the £90 or whatever, but do want it to install properly and not affect the operation by starting off in Brussels every time.

Question: If I buy the upgrade from SatNaviShop ( https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/20202021-lan...-706-p.asp ), will it work?

That's it, in a nutshell.

Bow down

I would refer you to Kae Otics post on the 5th Feb....it depends on whether you have a permanent failure or not?
It would appear that there is a very high number of us out there who have had a permanent failure which requires the complete unit to be changed and thus an update would not work regardless...

We just now use Waze on our mobile phones...

Hi Farmer, thanks for the reply (?) but I don't have a failure, just want to update my maps with the latest - new roads and roundabouts etc.

Is it not simply a question of buying the new maps, downloading and plugging the USB into the car? Or is that what causes the failure?

No you should be fine!

You must be the lucky one.... ! Should update fine... our issues are the fact that the nav continuously corrupts somewhere in the hard drive so we are unable to enter any destinations and the device defaults to Brussels....

Enjoy! Very Happy

I just installed the 2020 update because I was fed up with the ‘new’ M1/A14, A1/A14 and M1/A50 junctions appearing as ‘off road’. The update was very smooth but I had to wait ages after buying the disks until I was going on a 3hr journey! The file copy part of the update took the best part of three hours, but it wasn’t until I’d parked, switched off everything, waited ten minutes, and then restarted the engine, that the update was completed. This was exactly as per the supplied instructions. Potted LR history since 1990:

That is good to know Phil that it all works ok now then. Mine wouldnt load from my usb plug in the car, it crashed a couple of times tbh. The gararge have recommended fitting a new USB hub so we are hoping that will cure it!

It should be okay - If you are looking to load to 2019/2020 version this must be the DVD which seems to be the final DVD version, the latest (and probably final) USB version is the 2020/2021 version. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone
