I would guess your absolutely correct, I believe they are Subaru/Volvo/Jaguar map updates, most likely Navteq.

I do know the disc I bought recently from Satnavshop has indeed got some very recent (well 3-4 years at least, which isn’t bad!) mapping. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

I think it is because this one was started as a USB update and the other was a DVD update but have become slightly confused by some people not knowing which system they have Silver 2009 HSE

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Fuji White

Hi all,

I have just picked up a 2013/4 FL and have mined this site for helpful info.

Having used the tips upthread, I have discovered the maps haven’t been updated since inception.

So my options are a third party update at around £100 or a landrover branded one at £169.

Does anyone know if the landrover one provides any kind of firmware updates date for the system or is it purely maps that are updated?

I have just purchased a 2013 LR Freelander 2 Dynamic and the sat nav is set to Belgium and gives me no option for entering UK postcodes or changing the map to UK - any ideas please? I have yet to check the version in my car, but I could not see a DVD under the seat, so assume it is a USB update and will possibly have to go to Navigation.com to purchase an updated USB. Would appreciate any advice. Cheers

If it's a 13my, then it will take a USB.

Go to nav, select the option to enter a destination. Change the COUNTRY to UK and it will load the relevant data.and should then let you put a post code in.

Thanks Vanny - where is the USB located please? At present the map that shows in background is Europe but not UK. It does tell me what roads I am on eventually but definitely resets to Brussels on start up. It is very frustrating. Anyway, I will persevere

How does the USB update work then. Do you just simply slot it into the USB connection and it downloads. Can it be used more than once? If so it’s very expensive at £169.

The USB port on a 13 FL2 is in the centre console under the sliding door.

I got the update from ebay for about £90.

The seller needs your vehicle VIN to provide a licence code which is required as part of the update process.
The update is one time use only for one vehicle.

USB needs to be plugged in for about 4 hours with engine running, but can be restarted if you are
not able to do the update in one go, but you must not remove the USB dongle until completed.

JLR map supply for 13my onwards is here;

https://landrover.navigation.com/product/C...ID=Catalog

I've found the cheap options usually have older map data than this, for example I've had 2016 data advertis d as 2019. Which was a bit annoying when the road I wanted was opened in 2018!

Vanny. That’s the site I was looking at. Mighty expensive. Think I will pass for now. Google maps is a great standby if the satnav can’t find the location.

Even though I have latest maps,I still use Waze or Tomtom on my phone as satnav, as they are still better for traffic conditions than using the updated maps on the Freelander.
