Passenger fuse box

The passenger fuse box front & back views. The car worked when I plugged it all back together!

I have always had issues with the boot power socket which has finally given up. Finally checked all the wiring (brown grey large). The problem is inside the fuse box between fuse F63 (40amp relay next to F63 removed) & pin for the wiring loom plug (plug removed).

Maybe the easiest way is a jumper lead from the fuse to the wire on the back of the plug.

Not overly keen pulling the fuse box apart, I might be pushing my luck a bit too far!

Any suggestions on what I could do would be appreciated. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I’m a little unclear the problem, bit hard to see from pic but I wouldn’t have any problems pulling apart and fixing pin/spade as they’re pretty easy Thumbs Up
You’ve gotten this far which is commendable so the next parts easy!
Just be sure not to touch any circuitry as it’s your BCM but saying that they’re pretty robust. MY15

The dodgy circuit is inside the box between these two arrows. The 20amp yellow fuse is back in place. The pin for the plug is ok & the spade for the fuse is ok as well. So somewhere between.

The 8 plugs, 3 front, 3 back & 2 bottom are all easy to remove & you can't put them in the wrong socket putting them back in. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Aah ok, you need to pull it apart and see how the circuit is made ie PCB or wired.
I’ve not had the pleasure or excitement of dissecting one so I don’t know which or how.
Make sure you post pics ie circuitry porn😜😂
I’d personally break open and fix and see what makes it tic! MY15

I can't do this job in the garage so probably will need to wait until I have access to an area off the road as the car needs to be left open as the car is dead! I also disconnected the battery to be on the safe side.

Behind the panels, I couldn't believe the amount of dust, this dust was from the only outback trip since installing the acoustic insulation. I could have eaten an upside down pizza off the car as I cleaned it that thoroughly. Also lot of dust behind the boot panels.

There was a pile of dust between the B column & the carpet. When previously replacing the trim panels I replaced all the trim clips so there was a good new seal of the holes. So there must be some other holes somewhere sucking in dust.

Fuse box pink green bits!

I pulled apart the fuse box, removed all the fuses after photographing where they have to go back., there are 4 tongues down each side of the box which were quite tough to keep apart, used some old plastic transport credit cards once I got a gap with a couple of knives.

There is nothing that I can fix inside, the problem is between the circuit boards, so I will have to use a jumper lead.

Car works, just had to reset the date & time. I had disconnected the battery for 15 minutes beforehand.

Did you put a multimeter on the main cjb pin and fuse pin to check for good circuit?
Personally I’d probably do the same as otherwise for the sake of either a dry solder joint or PCB weak circuit it’s a complete new CJB for otherwise a good operating module.
Well done for getting that far Thumbs Up LR just would have said “shut up and give me ya money” for a complete new CJP & programming! Which they most likely would stuff up Rolling Eyes MY15

I have put a multimeter on there & nothing. I have soldered on a wire ready to connect to the fuse output side once I've been to Jaycar. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Stuartc, I have being looking at the fuse locations for the Discovery 4, same fuse box, & they are mostly laid out the same as the Freelander. A few have changed position & a few extra gadgets on the Discovery. Both cars use F48 for the trailer connector but the Freelander has a 15amp fuses & the Discovery has a 30amp fuse.

Anyway, on to my question, I take it you tried to use the same fuse positions for the gadgets you added as for the Discovery? Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I have a Discovery4 CJB and Freelander2 CJB on the bench with me and they are different. I was surprised about some of the minor but critical differences inside once I popped open the Discovery one.

I would suspect they were designed to the same specification as at first glance they look the same, but inside there are differences.

The software is quite different too, the Evoque CJB will drop straight into the Freelander HIL rig, but the Disco4 CJB doesn't want to know!

It is repairable, but it's a bit too much work to desolder 3 layers & the garage is too narrow so I would have to leave the car in the street overnight unlocked.

Can you reflow it in a reflow oven?

I think there are SMD components on both planes of the board so probably not.
