After parting with my first love, an aintree green TD4 XS MY2013, in 2015, I’m just about to have delivered a 13 plate SD4 in, you guessed it, aintree green. So really pleased to be back.

I have to confess I strayed from the path and left my first love for a Disco Sport much to the better half’s disappointment. Well actually anger really as she loved the car, since then I’ve been banished from making solo visits to JLR dealers.

My other drive is an ipace but I’ve missed the FL2 so much I couldn’t keep away.... plus the brownie points at home of course....

I recently sold an old Pajero and upgraded to a 2011 TD4 XS, planning to do some road trip holidays with the mrs and exploring the 4wd tracks around Sydney. Timing could have been better as we went into lockdown a week after purchase but at least we managed one day trip to the mountains and got the FL dirty.

Hi All
New to this forum as have never owned a FL2, have had many series,RR classic, defenders and currently a D2 V8, but having over the last five years emptied my bank account its time for the disco to go so nearly a year ago i started looking for a freelander, not being the worlds biggest diesel fan i thought the i6 sounded a good option and as i do limited mileage not a particularly stupid one! Unfortunately many many searches and hours trawling through autotrader and ebay etc brought up nothing clean or within a reasonable distance from where i live. However in March i finally found a low-ish mileage one sat in my local landrover dealership within a stones through, i quickly reserved it and then BAM lock down!!! So finally i went to see it yesterday, although it didnt look its best as had not been valeted for nearly 10 weeks it was almost everything i was looking for!
Have asked them to sort a few problems (small amounts of wheel arch rust, couple of scratches etc) and then i can collect, very much looking forward to adding a FL2 to the list, but am not holding my breath i wont be needing advice on faults some time in the future, after all its a 13 year old landrover!!!!!

Arrived back in the U.K. 2 days before lockdown.
Been in Africa for the past 20 years driving and fixing my Land Rovers.
Mostly Defenders (TDi 300 & TD5’s).
Was a member of the Disco 3 Forum when I owned a TDV6 SE and found lots of good advice.
Last 5 years, I enjoyed a RRS TDV8, now sadly gone.
Just bought my wife a preowned Freelander 2 SD4 HSE 2010 model. Only owned it for 8 weeks now. Really enjoying it as it still feels like new and still tight with no rattles etc.
However, there seems to be a slight grinding/catching (noise/feel) when turning corners.
Could this be a Haldex coupling problem?

It does depend on where the noise is coming from, and on FL2 the Body/chassis assembly is so darn stiff that noises do travel.
Could be Haldex, but could be front reduction box (front of propshaft), and like all front wheel drive cars could be a CV joint, or the old favourite of a wheel bearing.

When setting off the FL2 is 4 wheel drive, but once above about 20mph it tends to be front wheel drive unless a wheel is travelling at a different rate (as opposed to spinning, which is far too late), so if the noise is at say 40mph on a good surface I would look at the front of the car. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Welcome It’s a nice colour but looks different to the other red coloured ones I’ve seen but sometimes pictures look different on the net.
