Is anyone old enough to remember the fake air vents on the early Ford Capri? Made mine go a lot faster.

That looks a nice car dorsetfreelander.
I did later, consider a 3 litre auto version that was on sale local to me, but I had a family and I needed the space of a full sized saloon or estate.
In retrospect, although it drove nicely, I think the fuel consumption would have bankrupted me.

I had at the time a Vauxhall Victor FD 2ltr estate, then a VX/490 saloon (my first true 100mph car). FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Yeah, my dad told me about them Laughing Laughing

I fitted a set to a two door Vauxhall viva HB, that vehicle also has electric windows, out of a Vauxhall Velox.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Drove home from holidays, about 800km. Stayed overnight at a dead end road by the beach and we slept surprisingly well in the front seats. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

Nothing noticeable, Lightwater. I had the small trailer behind and two big kayaks on top so it was very brick-like moving through the air, even if not heavy. I was being fairly conservative with my speeds - although my partner was not! By gees they go well. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

Other half drives faster than I do, but she always says its the car! She also makes comments on fuel economy....... but only one of us is on & off the accelerator, 27 point turns, looks forever to park a few metres closer!

Good to see kayaks tied front & back! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I was driving down the M3 last night and came across an FL2 being towed at about 50mph with the front wheels off the ground which i always thought was not a good idea. I guess it's ok if the haldex is "freewheeling" but even then it's not designed for continual slippage at speed surely? I would have thought that in normal operation, the input and output shafts of the haldex would be running at about the same speed but in this situation who knows? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
