Battery Reprograming Required

Hi All

Looks like my Battery is getting on a bit (like its driver Laughing )
Charges up to 12.8 volts, but goes down to 12v or less after 4-5 days.
Anything below 12.3v and I get issues with starting, error messages etc.... as soon as its up to 12.7v no problem.

Not so much of an issue in the Summer, but now we have -10 degrees here in Scotland Wink poor old battery is complaining.
Alternator running at 13.9-14.1 so OK.

But have been advised by my local Independent LR guys that the battery will need re-programming? (system I suspect not battery)

Anyone heard of this before?
Was going to get a good quality Heavy Duty and fit myself, but not sure now....

If I find out anymore I'll post an update.

It's a bit early for April fools day isn't it? "Battery needs programming" is total b Censored it. It might need changing but I wouldn't buy anything from someone who comes out with a statement like that. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Not herd of a Freelander 2 needing battery recognition but BMW's and Mini's certainly do, you have to tell the computer that you have changed the battery and what for.
Also you cannot charge the battery across the battery terminals (if it has battery recognition) as the computer will not know it's been recharged and still reports the battery is low, thank goodness BMW didn't fit their system on Land Rovers when they owned them.

Interesting..... will try re-charging with the terminals disconnected.

I don't have the facility to re-programme, indeed if that is what is required?
Whenever I have re-charged then re-started all the error messages go!

Pretty sure the battery is on its last legs though, original LR Exide I think, but can't see a date stamp??
