I have heard the Scots share one battery between several vehicles.

Any reason Tayna are pushing the Euroline battery? Should I go for this? Opinions please Confused If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

You get generally what you pay for.

I can't track down the specific maker on the net so its probably just a trade name only and made by anyone in China or Korea etc that offers the best price. TAYNA probably have got the deal that suits them to supply most punters at a reasonable price but better batteries will be out there for more dosh I suspect. If like me for cars sitting outside in UK you change a battery before it falls over, so about 5 years its probably OK.

In Scotland it may not do 10 years plus as seems to be the expected requirement. Whistle FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

That's the one Embarassed

Anyway think I will go for the E44 silver dynamic 77ah as that seems to be best for non stop/start.

A Start-Stop vehicle fitted with an AGM battery, the technician cannot just replace the battery in the way that they have done with a traditional battery.

Instead, as the battery is intricately linked to the vehicle’s on-board electronics via a battery management system (BMS) or intelligent battery sensor (IBS), it has to be integrated into the system and paired with the BMS/IBS, which requires specialist equipment. Any good diagnostic tool will have this facility. Without the equipment to assist the technician and introduce the battery into the system, the vehicle could illuminate error messages on the dash, fail to charge the battery on rare occasions, however, if you don't have a diagnostic tool capable of this function it may take upto 48 hours for the (IBS) and battery to pair up again, for the stop start to work etc;

yep correct if a vehicle is fitted with Stop/start then it must be fitted with an AGM battery
If a battery is discharged, do not jump start, trickle charge for 24 hrs then retest
There are many technical reasons why this must be done in order and those who think im wrong , that's fine, but when you end up doing severe electrical damage from blown modules you will then understand more about Stop Start technology and smart charge system ( i do see garages often blowing modules from jump starts on stop start cars

vehicles with smart charge & AGM batteries do need the ECM reconfiguring to match the battery

here's a little help

Yesterday I fitted a shiny new Varta F19 Silver Dynamic 85Ah from Tayna. Just shy of £100 delivered.

I think the recommendation for that particular battery was on this website somewhere but being a battery biff, the fact that it was a same size easy swap was good for me. Thumbs Up

what I would recommend ....... is what he said above.

I have a 85Ah Varta battery under the bonnet, further I an identical Varta battery in portable battery case, for when needed. I have a 3rd battery for leisure components, like electric roof top tent, charging of phones / MP3 / torches / computer ......... running a TV, so I can watch the Grand Prix. (I do NOT use an inverter)

Same here , My wife’s propensity for short runs kills batteries , this is the third the car had in its 9 1/2 years . I might need a fourth before February is out . I’ve an optimiser fitted with a 12v male plug that I pop into the socket in the boot .However today I’ve just been down to Machine Mart and bought an industrial size mains charger with a boost facility . It’s great calling Home Start , but when you are number 700 on the list . The Scooby which racks up 12,000 miles a year starts first time like a good un . I’m loath to put the jump leads from the Scooby due to all the super fandango electronics that control everything from the autonomous braking to the shift points if you set the auto to manual

Ps what is the part number for the Varta Battery please ? There is an 85ah Bosch Silver fitted at the moment . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
