The ironic part of all this that, the Queen, only asked Phillip to go to the off-licence to get a six pack of Stella. Life Honorary Member of Wallasey Motor Club.
Licenced MSA Radio Operator for 35+ years.
Rallying is the only sport.

Our royals really are stupid there’s a picture of our aging queen driving around without a seat belt on and a woman says Philip nearly drove her off the road 6 miles before he hit the Kia.

I think one has to take news reports of anything these days as suspect, the car has been reported as a RR, LR and a Disco. the pictures show a replacement as being a FL2 or a DS.
The photo of the Queen driving without a belt are not conclusive, and the unsubstantiated report of being driven off the road by the duke is suspect, who can recognise any driver that forces you off the road at even a closing speed of 40mph. though being famous is very much a modern occupation Whistle
What I do find puzzling is how a 2004 Kia Carens with a 4star rating can knock over a FL2 that has reportedly just pulled out of a junction, overturn it twice across the junction, I can understand the occupant of the FL2 escaping with minor bruising but the Kia occupants having only minor injuries.
The Duke may have just come out of the junction but did he stop or was it at speed Rolling Eyes my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

My theory, FWIW, is that he did what many confused elderly drivers do when they are behind the wheel of an automatic and that is press the accelerator instead of the brake and when they find they're not slowing down, press it even harder. It's a mistake often made in car parks and high streets.

An eye witness said that the FL "careered across the road". If he was turning the steering wheel at the same time, this could have unbalanced the car enough to turn over when hit by the Kia.

He did say that he was blinded by the sun which was in his face in the direction he was going, but that shouldn't have affected his ability to see the oncoming car, if in fact he even looked.

Just a theory - I wasn't there.

I do object to this view. I have been driving automatic transmission cars since 1972 . We are one of the few countries in the world that have clung on to manual transmission and in fact it has got worse with 6 speed gearboxes becoming the norm. Would you buy a twin tub washing machine?
