Cleaned the engine bay as mine's going in for a B service and MOT so I wanted to create a good impression - lol !

Not overly manky but pretty dusty

Just sprayed on a bit of diluted TFR, agitated with a brush

And then carefully rinsed off.

Then a slap on of Autoglym Vinyl and bumper care Smile

Spent all day grovelling under the car fitting a rebuilt rear diff, courtesy of Bell Engineering.

Thanks Austen.

Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

Fitted a Heatshot unit. I know there are many on here who don’t see the point, but now that the price is reasonable (a third of what it was at Christmas!), I’ve decided to give it a try. I’m hoping it will clear the bugs better through the summer and then really earn it’s corn once the frosts are back. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

Today I have mainly had the following fitted ..

Rear shocks
Rear disc's & pads
Rear drop links
Front disc's
Front drop links
Steering arm bushes

And an MOT, my tame L/R mechanic says it's good to go for at least the next few years or so and I mentioned about the FL2 being L/R's most reliable to date and he agreed, said most problems are with the Range Rover variants. REME .. Rough Engineering Made Easy

New oil and filter, interesting to note how much extra oil came out of the sump plug once the seal on filter was removed so it seems worth while keeping the plug out until filter is coming off.

Air Filter and Cabin / Pollen Filter (really manky and only in for 11,000 miles). Cabin filter fought hard not to go in Sad and thats why many are never changed on services.

As the belly running plate was off I also got hold of the turbo vane rod and worked it up and down many times while spraying with bike lube. not something your local garage will do without prompting (or dealer Rolling Eyes ). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Toris, not being critical but the recommended hand position on the wheel is 9 & 3 these days, due to possible injury when the airbag deploys. I understand it is something that the driving test examiners look out for.

Just back from a fishless week on the river Thurso in Costa del Caithness. No rain for nearly 2 months and the river showing its bones. Notwithstanding, the car behaved impecabley over the 1400 plus mile journey at c35mpg over motorway, single track A roads (I kid you not) and some off road work getting to the river. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
