No idea it would be a MOT failure as not all cars have them. Shocked FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I also seem to remember that even if you have them, you can switch them off in the CCF. The system itself switches them off if you are below the warning level on the washer-fluid reservoir, although I guess a dashboard warning message is probably also a fail. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Yes a bit of a shock It appears that if you have headlight washers they have to wash ..

Left with choices 1. Fix myself.....2. Go to LR garage at great expense....... 3. Remove and blank off.....

OR 4. HAVE ANOTHER MOT AT A GARAGE WHERE IT PASSED PREVIOUSLY and lose the £35 for the first MOT Big Cry

My MOT was circa £55 today, mind you it did pass. Whistle

But in all seriousness I do lean towards a school of thought that anyone doing cut price tests is fishing for work. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Yes, that is why I am in two minds about the new MOT rules where certain categories of fail cannot be driven away from the test centre. On the one hand, a car that is unsafe should not be allowed back onto the road. On the other hand, I’m afraid I don’t have complete faith in the industry not to abuse that power. I attend, and have been for many a year, an MOT station that ONLY conducts MOTs.
If you want repairs ...... go somewhere else.

No axes to grind, here.

Kitkat,

for your age of car steer well clear of main dealers unless you absolutely have to go to them. not worth the extra expense.

there is a LR specialist just outside Alfreton that others have mentioned on here but I cant remember the name or exact location off the top of my head. He is reputed to be very good.

Which is why the system in Northern Ireland, run by the DVLA is ideal. No financial incentive to fail or pass a car, no work for a disreputable garage/ Although quite a few of the testers moonlight as mechanics on their days off and could potentially be a cheaper source of fixes. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
