My local waste disposal site has a really low barrier height of 1.8m. Vans & other tall vehicles have to use a special gated lane that can sometimes take a great deal longer to get through. I was sat waiting in this lane a few days ago and watched a succession of 4x4's pass through the 1.8m barrier, including a FL1, a Honda CRV and a huge Toyota with roof bars - this latter was either scraping through or had mm to spare at best. I am sure he must be higher than me! Now the LR specs give just one height for a FL2 of 1740mm, but does that include the roof bars (I have none) or the DAB 'sharks fin' aerial? It would save me loads of time if I could use the standard lane, but I really don't want to rip the Dab aerial off!

It's both actually.....different p/n's for Dab only (1 Fakra connection) or dab/Nav (2 Fakra Connection). There's also a Nav only version. Obviously if you have neither then you don't have one. My car with LR crossbars just touches our garage door if I am not sitting in the car. If I am in the car there is 10mm clearance! The fuel tank being further to the rear, you might gain another 10mm clearance from full to empty! Additionally I have also straightened my crossbars, so gain about another 15mm.
Next time take a tape measure with you & measure the height & you will know for sure if your car will clear the bar. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device! With my fuel tanks on the roof 2.2 metres is enough clearance! Some car parks on the north coast of NSW have 2.3 metre clearance. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device! I once took a defender full of empty bottle to the tip. unloaded them all and it rose on suspension and I couldn't get out under barrier.

Awhile back I was sent to replace some lighting at the far end of an underground carpark, forgot about extra ladders and ended up replacing quite a few more lighting units than expected to. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Top tip - if you decide to ride your bike home from the garage make sure you take it off the roof rack before handing the keys over so the "technician" can move the car onto the ramp........
