Freelander 2 2,2 Auto consistent 33,8 mpg calculated from fuel use and same as Average on display.

I'm doing the least favourable driving for economy - short trips, stop/start traffic and all CBD mileage and I'm avg 9.6l/100 which is about 30mpg. You'd have to be driving like your on drugs to get into low 20's and I would suggest there is a problem! As I've only done 5300km I'm guessing the engine is still quite tight and this figure will still improve!

As I've said many times before on this forum, don't buy an FL2 if you are worried about MPG. Unless you are doing a huge mileage the cost of extra fuel is irrelevant to cost of ownership. So, just out your foot down....and enjoy this fabulous car!

MPG FIGURES

Hello,
Can anyone give me a figure of the mpg that will be realistically achieved from an automatic freelander, my current manual seems to be showing 35.1 most of the time.

From our 2010 manual Whistle Thumbs Up

I believe the real world figures for an auto are a few mpg less, but it's all down to individual driving style Thumbs Up

For average fuel your 35 on a manual is good. For real world driving in an auto expect 32. If you constantly use command shift you can expect 34.

Recent trip out into the country I avg door/door 7l/100 (41mpg) and I was hammering it, lots of hills and overtaking also included leaving/re entering CBD where I live. It's also only got 5k/km on the clock so have no doubt an an avg run would better official 5.6l/100 figure. Speed warning was constantly on so was not hanging around!
All my driving otherwise is city, short runs with occasion long run and I'm avg 9.6 to 10.3l/100 as of today. This includes a/c running for 50% of the time as it's winter here atm, in a couple months it will be 100%, ie never gets switched off! MY15

I can't get anywhere close to the figures some of you guys are getting, attached is from the RoadTrip app and the best was from a couple of fairly long trips mostly at 50 due to road works.
FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

Shocked
I really don't drive for economy so can't believe how frugal the Freelander 2 is especially with power available! MY15

England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

From my 2008 HSE auto with 77k miles up I get nowhere near what some others get. 28 is normal, with many short runs and a steep hill to negotiate on a cold engine every time I leave the village. Low to mid 30s on longer runs, mid 20s with the caravan hooked up. Local driving on Cornish lanes and hills isn't great for fuel economy. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne

Wales 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Been on a 92 mile trip today which was very hilly, a lot of 'short' shifting and hardly any flat road.
My manual FL2 managed an impressive 39 mpg.
I didn't buy it for economy so I'm pleasantly surprised. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Fuel consumption

Just been on a 190 mile trip, mostly motorway and I averaged 38.9mpg, at an average speed of 59.3mph.
The traffic was not too bad and I didn't stop for a break.
Its a 2007 TD4 2.2 .
It seems good to me. Is this what I should expect?
Oh, I had three adults in the car and fully loaded with luggage! Even the spare passenger seats!
