Quick MPG Question?

Morning gang!
I have a quick MPG question for ya!

Drove to Manchester and back yesterday and got around 37MPG?
Was on A487, A55 and M56 then a bit of town driving? (about 6 miles of town driving).
My Automatic FL2 TD4 is only a couple of weeks old?
I was doing around 70MPH and did not use C/C?

Is this a good MPG?

Thanks in advance friends! Many Thanks,

Ade

England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 Sport Auto Firenze Red

with an auto box and a tight engine I would say about right, some people claim upwards of 42MPG, but in the real world I reckon anything near 40 is pretty good. SD4 Sport LE Firenze Red - no options or modifications yet, but it's early days.

Last 2 tanks over 500 miles. OBC showed 40.0 and 40.5 mpg which was actually (brim to brim) 36.7 and 37.4 respectively. These figures were for mainly long trips on motorway and A class roads.

Just completed 4000 miles of mixed driving and the overall true mpg is 32.6. OBC is about 8.3% optimistic and would show about 35.6).

Considering this is an auto (SD4) I am very pleased and rather surprised in view of some of the postings!

My SD (all SD are auto) now at 13000mls gives 42mpg on similar mixed road journeys. Starts to get better approaching 10000 miles when engine really freeing up.
A 500 mile trip of the most uneconomical type driving (300 miles swift motoring on single track roads) was 28mpg on my 2008 GS Auto 2 years running, 36mpg on identical run with SD. All FL2's (3) Gone

With my 60 plate 11my XS manual, I'm returning 45-46mpg on work run of 50 miles A64/A1, 34-36mpg 'round-the-doors' and averaging 39-41mpg overall. Only done 7500 miles, so might get better yet.

Mate has a Speedhawk box fitted to his 11/11 GS manual (4000 miles) and he's getting 40-42 'round-the-doors'

I'd be well happy with that.

You also have to bear in mind tyre pressures any head wind I guess as well.
I don't think our cars are very aerodynamic! Confused

True. That's why we shouldn't worry/stress too much about MPG.
