So, Brazil won but the ref was a bit iffy, I bagged £101 from a £10 bet on the game and tonight's match looks interesting.

Within a couple of games the cracks will appear with Holland, usually plagued by the ego's within the team. |

Interesting point. Funnily enough, I was just thinking how easy Argentina have it in their group on paper. The problem is that the weaker teams have nothing to lose so Argentina could get caught out. Not to mention the potential for injuries to key players like Messi through horrendous tackles by the less skilful. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Revenge is sweet indeed for the Netherlands. The World and European champions Spain have been torn to pieces tonight. 1 - 5 and it could have been more. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Well, after my bet came in, I am of the view that a fool and his money are soon parted so I will quit while I'm ahead. Despite the vision of 2-1 to England tonight which is 21/2 at the moment. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Agreed, great result for Costa Rica. I think Uruguay were arrogant and complacent. Costa Rica had nothing to lose and went at them all guns blazing and duly kicked their ass.

Some of the best attacking football I've seen from England for years and WE STILL LOST!! FFS!! We haven't beaten one of the big guns on the world stage since we beat Argentina in 2002 in the group stage. Whatever happens, I will support whoever plays Italy in this tournament to hope for someone to wipe the smirk off their faces LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

First few minutes of the game I thought 'hullo, they appear to be having a go'. Then it was immediately back to same old England, get the ball, don't really know what to do with it, eventually ends back in defence being passed across the pitch, then someone gets bored and plays the inevitable long ball (passes it back to the opposition), then spend next 10 minutes defending and getting knackered trying to get the ball back. And Repeat. Only hope they seem to have is the odd counter attack.

What a poor effort England made to win. They should hang their heads in shame, no fire in their bellies at all. The worst of all was watching the full backs passing the ball between them right in front of their own goal. A cardinal sin in anyones books. Very little attack on the opposites goal, instead preferred to play patsy between themselves mid field. I hardly saw a long forward pass from them throughout the whole game. As for marking their opposite number I don't even think they knew who they should be marking. May be the coloured striped ball confused them? at least that is all I can give them as an excuse.
