Well then, I hope Hodgson's England cherubs don't play the Morrisons Belper team as I know a few of those chaps play very rough indeed - more akin to Ashbourne Shrovetide football rules than the FA version. Shocked

Wales 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Baltic Blue

Well I must admit to taking the dog for a walk mid-game so missed from 30th to 60th mins but in the end the best TEAM won the World Cup. Not reliant on one or two shiny superstars, not reliant on endlessly diving to fool the referee, not reliant on endlessly defending a slim lead and not reliant on a slim 7 goal lead vs Brazil ha ha...

So, well done the Germans. And didn't Angela Merkel look happy!

Glad ARG didn't prevail. Half of them should have been red carded anyway. ...

Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies...

Censored me. Before last week I had never heard of the Ashbourne Shrovetide football until I came across one of the 'goals' in the village we were staying in (Clifton). I did a bit of Googling and some sites say that in the early days the 'goals' were 3 miles apart, the game 'kicked off' at 2pm, went on to 10pm and the ball was a severed head! Thats one tough game!!!!! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

That's correct - 3 miles apart in a direct line - which never happens to be the route taken to goal.
Two teams - the Uppards (my lot) and the Downards - depends on which side of the Henmore Brook you were born. No limit to the number of players in each team and no limit to the actual playing area.

Two matches are played every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.

Not played for years - it is a young man's "battle" - but I can and do retire to the pub(s) throughout the whole day for refreshment. Being a spectator is also hard work Wink
