Except that speculation elsewhere http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-ma...model.html is that the Discovery range is going to take a price hike into what was previously Range Rover territory, and the real replacement for the Freelander will be part of the Defender family...

Thinks Telegraph have got that wrong. Previous tip-offs on here and now all over the Internet confirm 2015 launch of Discovery Sport to replace "ageing" Freelander 2 / LR2, as first model of new Discovery range.

Freelander replacement has been known as L550 for some time and the weblink for the intro video has that in the URL so I think we are pretty sure that its Discovery Sport as 5 or 7 seater, probably with various driveline options (2WD?, 4WD and GKN's clever Active Driveline (as Evoque).

It has always been LR policy to move all models up market with a price hike, then introduce a new model, this time could be slightly different as what we know as a Freelander and of similar price may well be a version of the Defender my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

MightyMildred, I agree absolutely. But I've (almost!) given up saying it because it feels like flogging a dead horse (if a vet will forgive such an analogy ) Those of us who want a 4x4 seem to be hugely outnumbered now by those who want a fashionable shopping car. I think our remaining hopes must lie with the Defender, but the noises coming out of LR in that area are not encouraging either. |

Really like the look of that, although not to original as it looks just like the latest ford explorer . |

I expect the base models will come in at around 30 grand with the more prestige models, with all the bells and whistles, knocking on the 50 grand mark. If my prediction is right then being retired, and self funding my motors, I will in all probability change brand loyalty. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I知 with you Tenet. Next year at the grand old age of 54 I will be retired and unable to fund what I suspect will be a 」40k replacement. I will not need a 4x4 as I will no longer need to get anywhere anytime. I will be going back to an old Defender as a toy and next week the Freelander goes to be replaced by a Focus ST Estate. It may not get me everywhere but I will get to most places a lot quicker! A Land Rover owner since 1988
