Lets get this right. The prat crosses to the wrong side of double white lines 3 times. He's lucky to have got away with cuts and bruises. He could have killed himself and the occupants of the car. He deserves no sympathy and should have his licence shredded. If you want to drive like that, go to a track day. At least everyone is aware of the risks and is travelling in the same direction!!!!!!

As a recently joined member of the biking community I think it's very unfortunate that people feel the need to push their bikes - not beyond the capability of the bike but rather beyond the capability of the rider!!!!

In all cases I've seen the bike is capable of much more than the rider can do.... 2002 Honda VFR800

It's all down to complete idiots like him that the powers-that-be have put a blanket 50mph speed limit on the Cat, backed up by unmarked plod vehicles and helicopters.

Mind you, if you're riding from Buxton you're better off going left just before the C&F pub and taking the road down to Congleton. Just as twisty and scenic and far less police presence. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

I suppose you can't expect muppets to read the clear markings on the road saying SLOW and the solid white lines when you're on the wrong side of the road. Ban for life I reckon.

Very easy to lose the front end of a bike, this instance definitely due to rider error and although he submitted the recording with good intention to highlight the dangers of the road he really has highlighted his own incompetence as a master and commander in the saddle. Biking is an enjoyable past time made tough enough by the government without idiots paving the way for new regulations being proposed and set.

As a motorcyclist for over 45yrs and only health reasons forcing my retirement from the saddle five years ago I was rather hoping that this idiotic incident did not appear in these columns as it adds fuel to the generally held view that "bikers" are an irresponsible tribe of road users. Overall they are not - but as in every fraternity it's the minority that paints the broadly held view.

Only the other day I shared my thoughts on this latest episode with a close longstanding fellow motorcyclist. Both of us have ridden that tarmac almost as many times as we've drawn adult breath, living almost within a stones throw of its length. Here's an extract of my email comments the other day:

"Yes - the prat could have killed the car occupants (and himself) if he had hit the oncoming vehicle.

He should be banned for an age and made to retake his motorcycle licence, and, if I was his mate riding with him I'd never go out again with him. The way he positioned himself on that last corner, notwithstanding his road speed, indicates that he has no idea how to ride a motorbike. He's the type of rider that gives motorcycling a bad name.

You and I have ridden and driven the CnF for 40+ years before all the speed restrictions with brakes and suspensions a lot less efficient than today's machinery. It is a very technically demanding road to ride or drive quickly and safely. It was however a source of great joy and satisfaction to have done so capably.

A couple of years ago I drove down the Fiddle southwards in K's Freelander and I just couldn't believe car drivers conducting overtaking manoeuvres on blind spots, along solid white lines, ignoring the posted speed limit and against small conveys of vehicles. I think all that impatience is in some part a byproduct of these so called "calming" measures. This so professed "science" of road safety needs to be throughly reappraised. It (those traffic calming initiatives) are, in themselves, partially to blame for the incredulous actions of a few arrogant selfish fools."

Bit of a mishap that, I dare say he'll think twice about 'over egging it' next time!

In all honesty I admire anyone that can ride a motorbike (Though maybe not like that!!) , I'm dangerous enough on two wheels powered by my own legs so tend to give them a wide berth...........

I've been riding motorbikes since 1960 and wouldn't complain if that idiot never got his licence back.

One point does occur. If the manoeuvre had got what it deserved and resulted in the demise of said idiot, could there be a posthumous conviction for causing death by dangerous driving? Now that WOULD be justice! Thumbs Up Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
