Regeneration... Again

The agreement on my Fiesta ZS was due to end in 2016 and frankly by then it's cash for an older car and bye bye finance as I should be ready to get my first place by then. So I snapped up an irresistible deal on a new ST-2 over 2 years to bow out of finance in a blaze of glory Laughing

The handling is superb, the noise is great, the seats are fantastic and it moves along very quickly indeed with virtually no turbo lag. Here it is at the dealers fresh off the transporter and ready to go next week: Very Happy

Cheers Thumbs Up

The car critics are all in agreement that it is the King of the small hot hatch sector. As standard it has 180bhp but has overboost to 200bhp and is good for 60 in 6.8 seconds. Torque hits 215 lb ft and in a car that weighs not much more than a tonne, it is very quick and responsive. 6 gears and I just know I am going to have to be careful because it is one of those cars that will be so much fun to drive that I will be praying for payday so I can put more petrol in Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Have driven one a few times, and they go nicely and handle well.

But by God they are an ugly car!! Laughing

Although not as ugly the new Focus ST I grant you......

Er, no! Rolling Eyes

Great looking car Mr. Green The only properly ugly cars are for example, the Nissan Juke or the SsangYong Rodius. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Horses for courses, I suppose.

Agreed that both of the examples you have given above are particularly hideous.

Don't get me wrong, the new Fiesta ST drives brilliantly, and the design of the "normal" new Fiesta is excellent. My wife has one, and my daughter has the Fiesta Metal.

I am utterly convinced you will love driving it.

However, whoever got given the Crayola set at the ST design department at Ford has produced, in my humble opinion, an absolute monstrosity in the new Focus ST, and whilst the new Fiesta ST is better looking than its bigger brother, it's not by much.

Then again - what do I know? Plenty of people have bought the new ST's (of both flavours), and for that matter the Nissan Juke and the Ssanyong!! Beauty is, I guess, very much in the eye of the beholder.

But still.....the new Focus ST is particularly awful looking. I was followed by one the other day, and it was like having a startled Moomin staring at you in the rear-view mirror...

I must say I dislike the looks of the focus full stop. However, Ford have just facelifted it and it looks much better now. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Bought Mrs Aero the 1.0 ecoboost 125hp Fiesta brand new in November and its a fantastic town car, with the advantage of no road tax. The only thing I find annoying is the front passenger seat as it has no height adjustment and my head is almost touching the roof. Best small car on the market. Good luck with it Doc. Road test review anticipated of course!

Picked it up today and well impressed! Fine handling and power and the seats are epic! Here are some pics I took at the dealership before it got mucky in the rain:

I like the styling of it. Red wouldn't be my colour of choice but then again I also like 4 doors on my cars these days too - so much easier for picking up aged parents and getting out of within the tight confines of the supermarket car parking space! Compared to the FL, 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds is quite rapid but for my kicks I've recently bought a sports touring motorcycle and whilst most top end sports bikes would leave me standing, my tourer does 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. That's fast enough for me! Enjoy your new car until the burden of home ownership arrives. Mr. Green
