Anti-stall

Several members have talked about the 'Anti-stall'.

My 2011 will stall should I not get the balance between clutch and throttle correct.

I find this annoying, especially when I am reversing with caravan attached. My 2004 Toyota Rav4 didn't stall when reversing with caravan attached.

Should I get this checked out?

It's still possible to stall even with the anti stall (as my wife proves). If you pull away by slowly releasing the clutch with no gas the car should crawl along at a steady pace in first or second. Particularly useful passing horses without revving. TBH not tried doing it in reverse but I can't see why it should make any difference. In 3rd gear or over, taking your foot off the gas should keep the car at a steady pace with no juddering, in my car 5th gear and no gas it keeps the car at exactly 30mph which is handy. _________________

I tried mine in Sand mode today. Goes like the clappers once the revs have picked up, but still seems gutless when initially setting off. Sad

Iain,

Been off the radar for a month or so. I would recommend them. First class job and a good bit cheaper than main dealers. Nice folk, no fancy tea/coffee or biscuits just a good service JB19

This whole thread seems to tie in to another widely experienced thread in "technical" as since a software upgrade carried out as part of the investigation on mine it feels exactly the same. "2011 facelift 150bhp engine with intermediate missing" MY14 TD4 manual XS Orkney grey.

My son has a 11 plate facelift FL2 and has had exactly these issues where sometimes on pulling away from a junction or on to a roundabout there is a loss of power. LR assist put new software on and things improved for a little while then reverted. Dealer put latest software on and made no difference. My 60 plate LR2 seems OK. I wonder if there is some remapping/learning going on?

I have a 2010 XS manual 26K fully serviced. I have a poor throttle response compared to the wifes 2009 manual. Hers is serviced at Strathearn Eng mines at Main dealer. Anybody offer any suggestions on reason. neither car has any mod or mapping adjust.

The dealer told me that the car learns your driving style, I'slime to know if this can be reset so I can start all over again....with a heavier foot!

Took our 11 plate facelift FL2 into dealer today. Evidently LandRover are aware of a number of issues regarding slow throttle response on different variants of FL2 and are trying to find fixes.

Incidentally the technician agreed that there is some ECU learning about your driving style involved too.

My 2011 FL2 also suffers from this problem.

Very sluggish at anything under 1500rpm then off like a rocket.

Also when accellerating on a very light throttle it picks up until 1500-1800rpm then has a sudden loss of power and then kicks in again with a jolt.

On occasions this has resulted in it stalling when pulling onto roundabouts or pulling away from traffic lights.

I took it into Stratstones in Swansea last week and they said they could find nothing wrong with it and could not reproduce the problem. I'd only been in the car 30 seconds after they dropped it off at my workplace and it stalled at a junction. Green Discovery 300tdi Modified,

I found that my D3 was gutless at junctions and take off and had it remapped. Problem solved and it totally transformed the car as well as improving mpg. Until you have had it done you wont understand what you have been missing, the difference is night and day
Assuming the symptoms you all describe f its not a fault, just a trait of the model, I would highly recommend a remap either to the ECU or a BAS tuning box

I don't have the problem with the FL2 , its the 3.2 i6! - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

If my wife ever sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for it, there will be some bargains out there!

I would describe this as an intermittent fault as it isn't like it all of the time but it is getting more and more frequent. Green Discovery 300tdi Modified,

I too have the same "slow throttle response. My landrover (main dealer serviced) 60 plate has been in to the dealer on numerous occasions. mainly for the hesitation between 1800 to 2000 revs and every time comes back ok for a couple of weeks. on the last occasion it can back with the poor throttle response.
I wounded if there is a common fault here ? Recently i took the time to take the car to a landrover engine specialist.
When he accessed the engine data there where no faults logged so i can only imagine how difficult it must be for my dealer to try and get to the bottom off (who was very helpful). SO after reading months of these posts on the dreaded 60 ish plate freelanders with the same common faults .I guess the cars not going to totally fail but only time will tell. I am disappointed with this car and probably like many others unsure whether i will buy another new landrover (its nowhere near as good as the 57plate i had previously)

The problem doesn't create an MIL fault so what they should do is to drive around trying to recreate the problem whilst recording the live data from the car.

At the point when the problem shows itself they can stop the live data recording then go back and analyis the results.

By comparing the figures against a table which says what the values should be they should be able to track down the cause of the problem.

I recently had to the same test on my Discovery TD5 as when towing a caravan it was well down on torque but there were no fault codes recorded. By reading the live data using Nanocom I discovered that the MAF readings where at least 30% below what they should have been.

I changed the MAF yesterday to a new Siemens/VDO unit and my tickover values climbed from 24 to 64 and my on load values improved from a previous maximum of 438 to 630.

I would carry out similar tests on my Freebie but as it is still under warranty I shouldn't have to. Green Discovery 300tdi Modified,
