no it's a common problem, and just requires the joint on the plastic air intake moulding redone.

I recently found oil dripping onto the engine cover from a split at the moulded bellows style joint near the other end of the 'organ pipes'. Had to buy a new part from Dan at Duckworths. |

choccymonster, some oil present in the intake is normal but I can't remember why !!

It's the exhaust gas recirculation system pumping the c**p which comes out of the engine back into it. And yes, it is bad to have this stuff in the air intake! As usual it's to do with the current obsession with emissions - pumping some exhaust gas back into the engine reduces emissions slightly. Supposedly. |

This has nothing to do with the EGR system. It is oil steam from the engine breathing system. There is an inbuilt system to separate the oil from the air, but it is not perfect and some oil will slip by and condense in the "organ pipe" Search for the "Swirl Flap" topic and you will find some photos and solution to prevent the rest of the oil to evaporate into the air intake system. |
