I am not very practical when it comes to installation of things so I've taken the easy route and paying someone to do it , hopefully they will get it right ( fingers X ) .

Just had it fitted today (£55) , seems fine , audio bit quiet but I am partial deaf so expected that .

Spoke too soon , son went out in car last night and on return said he thought the unit was sposed to fire up on starting the car up ( it hadn't) , so I checked and opened the glove box to see if the power lead had seperated and as I touched it the TomTom started/shut down as intended .
This morning afore wife took car to work I started car up and TomTom remained off , took the rubber palm rest thing below the unit off and attempted to get my little finger through to reboot ( as previous posters advised ) , sadly for me my finger is a little to large and I almost got stuck trying to remove it
Going to have another look this weekend and then take it back to garage on Monday if no luck , I made sure the unit was fully charged before taking it to the garage .
I was so pleased driving it away from the installation yesterday as it looked secure and was working fine .

Not sure if it helps and yours may be ok but..............

on mine I had to go into the menu and alter the settings so it turned off when the power was disconnected and back on when the power feed was restored (ignition on). It has been fine ever since

Yes donny that what I set it to after reading these posts , and it did power up/down on ignition on/off , scratching head ,
was thinking of attaching laptop to it when wife returns from work to see if that would help ? but cant find a lead to fit to the usb in the glovebox so need to source one .

Met the missus from work and her little finger was easily inserted and she was able to switch on/re boot the TomTom via the hole beneath .
Appeared to switch on/off fine after that , will monitor over the weekend

Just an update on mine , not firing up again on start up most of the time , I suspect lead to unit is not in fully or worked out , back to garage Monday .
