That's what I thought Smile , it gets pretty warm with the 'greenhouse effect' on and under the dash.

Garmin 2699LMT-D. It's deliberately off-centre to allow for the phone microphone which is at the lower left of the front panel.

Great thread with so much info however I cannot see an answer for my problem.
I have a 2014 Start 60 (ser no VExxxxx) and found that it has no screen view invert mode, instead the mounting arm slides out of the back and turns 180 degrees to change installation. As the start/reset switch is on top right and not able to install TT inverted, there will be no access through hole under bobbly rubber tray to reset / reboot.
Spoke to Tom Tom support who say that reset not necessary on this model as reset carried out each time power removed - same as their built in models.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Note that I would have liked Land Rover logo but unable to find a pre 2012 Start 60 for sale.

Hello.
I am going to link the gps to the fuse box under the glove box.
But, i was peeking and i have already a fuse in possition 5. But in the manual is says that there shoud be none in that position.
I do i do now?

And, what fuse should i use to the tomtom charger?

Have now found and bought a 2012 model TT Start 60 (ser no WNxxxxx) and fitted no problem - with much help from this thread, it works fine.

Here a few of tips from my mod:

1) Post 2012 TT 60 (with MyDrive) does not have screen flip and cannot be installed in FL2 with access to start/reboot switch, also the rounded corners of this latest model means the screen mounting does not frame the complete aperture in dash panel. This model is easily identified by TomTom logo/name on bottom centre of case rather than side.

2) I found easiest way to remove top panel with speaker grill without damage - insert plastic credit-type card at front (near windscreen) and off centre, insert second card below first, insert wide flat bladed screwdriver between cards and twist. This will release top clip, then with fingers gently pull front of panel up and back to release side clips. Smear all clips - including radio surround panel clips - with a little vaseline before refitting, as it is likely you will need to remove more than once.

3) I made a bracket and two straps from 1mm aluminium alloy to retain the TT case. The bracket is attached to the square holes adjacent to bobbly rubber tray locating holes and the straps attached at top to the two redundant cubby mounting holes, see photo. Locate TT with double sided tape, trial fit straps and bend to apply a little pressure to back of case when attachment screws are tightened.

Big Cry Been having problems with my Tom Tom start 60 where it seams to either cancel the programmed route or selects menus automatically as if you touching the right hand side of the screen. I have cleaned the screen with isopropyl alcohol which worked for a bit but it still occasionally does it. Is my units touch screen failing can it be recalibrated or something. Rolling Eyes

not very technical but do you have a screen protector? if so try removing it.

if not try fitting one - they are very cheap

Mine started playing up recently. It would select different screens at random, as if someone was pressing 'buttons'. I updated the maps etc (hadn't done it in over a year) and the problem seems to have gone. Try that or at the very least a proper reset, ie press and hold the power button until the unit powers down then restarts, complete with the TomTom logo and drums sound.

No I haven't got a screen protector will try and get one. I have recently updated to the latest map and the GPs fix update so that's fine. Mine is flicking screen like you describe at random also seams to clear programmed route at random then asks if I want to recalculate the route again from my current location. Will try the hard reset tomorrow and see if that works thanks le bouch Thumbs Up

Mine also did this - its trick was to flick from the set destination to "home" in the middle of a trip. Afraid I didn't investigate it further as I was getting rid of the car and new one has built-in nav. The Tom-Tom is still sitting forlornly in my study. Afraid I can't offer a solution, but maybe it's a generic problem with this screen? Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Do you think this issue could be caused by the unit constantly being exposed to extreme temperatures hot in summer and cold in winter as the unit wasn't designed to be built in to any dashboards. I think I might upgrade it to one of the later Garmin units maybe. Rolling Eyes

One suggestion is that fitting the unit to the dashboard might cause stress on the frame, and with the screens being touch sensitive this might activate them in some way. I also wonder whether there might be a static electricity build-up problem, as the surround is plastic (and certainly collects static, if the amount of dust on mine is anything to go by). Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Hey - nice install.

A couple of questions:
- On this Tomtom model can you flip the screen through settings?
- Do you have access to the start/reboot switch when it's installed?

Cheers
