That's a good suggestion about checking the camera view first before sticking everything down more permanently. Something this little unit can do, thankfully. Thumbs Up

I might even look at passenger top corner, not an ideal place, but as I get a live feed it's worth a check first.

Live view is a good feature for positioning, just wish i found out how to use it on the blackvue app before fixing to my window as those sticky pads are very strong

I used the piggy back fuses to get my power from the footwell fuse board and there is plenty of screws to earth it there too , run it to the power savebox which is positioned down there too, popped behind the area the carpet ends, then ran the cable across to the door pillar, up behind the rubber seal and out and across the top of the door pillar, and used the sunvisor brackets to snake the cable across to the camera

in the setting turn off the front security light too, it flashes away saying look at me and is quite bright on an evening, also i have put a bit of tape over the GPS LED as that is very bright also, and turn off Wi-Fi when you dont need it, turns off the blue LED on the side and also when you in the car, the phone connects too it and you won't get any data like emails etc Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I mounted mine directly behind the rear view mirror with the lens as central as I could get it, that leaves the unit pretty much hidden from your driving view apart from the extreme right hand edge where the power plugs in. From there you can feed the cable up behind the plastic cowling at the back of the r/v mirror and stuff it behind the slight groove where the headlining meets the top of the screen, "totally out of sight" before taking it down the passenger side rubber strip as pinks has mentioned.
Once fitted angle the camera down to get a 70/30% view of the road/sky, better still 80/20% will give the best exposure setting for recording the scene on the road and not what's going on in the sky!
As you'll notice, the camera is extremely wide angle with a view of around 120° and those settings I've mentioned will give a recording similar to what you see while driving, minus the rear view mirror Thumbs Up

Have a look on the Blackvue site occasionally for updates to the Blackvue viewer, they are up to v.2.0.3.2 for windows and v.1.0.0.2 for mac, although your new camera will probably come with the latest version, and look HERE for some software called 'SD Formatter' You'll need to run it once a month or so, or whenever your unit starts to misbehave as it is the software recommended by Blackvue to format your micro SD cards. Apparently Windows or other OS's don't do as good a job with the 0 and 1's on high capacity cards.

I've got one, I will try and fit it properly tomorrow as the windscreen has just been replaced. Could I stick the wires around the windscreen with blu tack?

Mine didn't come with any. By "I've got one", I meant a dashcam. Not a particular model.

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Forgot about this thread !

Ended up ordering one from China for £19 & a memory card from MyMemory for £10 (so less than £30 all in).

Installed it yesterday & it works like a charm, exactly what I want it for Smile

Can't see any wires at all (apart from where it plugs into the 12v switched socket). I put the wiring under the headliner by the windscreen, down the rubber door seal, then tucked into the plastics around the passenger side all the way around to where the gear stick is. Only took 5 mins & you can't see a thing.

If anyone wants any pics, vids or more info, just let me know.

Chris

Hi Chris,

It would be great to see some pictures. Then I can play around the wires later.

Thanks! Smile

Yep mate. I'm sure everyone knew what I meant! Embarassed

Incidentally, the Blackvue 500 I'm getting is cheaper in Oz than in the UK. Makes a refreshing change!
