I have been more than happy with Mi Witness.
The service from this company is first class as well.
Highly recommended for ease of use. One Discovery, gone

Good luck with finding a live that doesn't switch off after a predetermined time. I for one would welcome a post if you find one. Thumbs Up

That'll teach me to read posts properly.
Thought your little black box was like the 'Power Magic' I want to install which requires a permanent live to feed the dash cam while the ignition is off, but monitors the condition of the battery, shutting the cam off when it reaches a defined minimum charge or the pre-set timer shuts it off. Thumbs Up

Update:
Records in great quality for the price. Plates easily readable. I mounted it under the bottom of the RVM mount. Hidden from my view and discrete from the outside. The power lead is not long enough to reach the power socket if you try and hide it around the windscreen and door pillar. Need to get an extension lead.

I would recommend this camera Thumbs Up * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

The rearmost power socket in the cubby box disables on locking car and if you leave the car unlocked by accident power is also disabled. Mine is a MY 2013. Thumbs Up * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

I installed a mio 388 dash cam but used a road hawk hd screen mount to do away with the suction mount it also mounts the camera higher and closer to the windscreen on the left side of the rear view mirror. The mio 388 also has a good speed camera alert so you wont get caught speeding. Razz
Heres two videos i put on you tube Whistle

Installed mine yesterday
other than the bright sky causing a bit of an issue
all is good.
lens could do with a polarizing filter, but not sure what type i would get/need.

V40. Just angle it down so you get 80% road 20% sky, that'll include a fair amount of the dash, but will cause the cam to expose for the road and not the sky, although you'll always get whiteouts when driving straight into the sun.
A polarising filter would help in permanently sunny climates, but would lose you up to 3 stops of light entering the cam on dull days and at night if you forgot to take it off. All in all, the Blackvue's good out of the box. Thumbs Up

Short video from mine mount directly behind the RVM and angled down giving a more natural view through the screen.

I have mine mounted much higher up the screen, the top of the image is just into the shaded area of the screen and as Wing States, angle down, makes a huge difference.
You can judge the difference by using the phone app and live view Thumbs Up

Mine is a 500 but situated pretty much exactly where yours is. Mine is adjusted for 2/3 road, 1/3 sky. This does include a lot of bonnet but works well.
I've read on the dashcamtalk forums that all the Blackvues benefit from slightly turning the lens a few degrees to focus them better - haven't tried it yet though.

I also found that when the rear view mirror comes off
it is sod to get back on
until you turn it 30degrees engage the mounting bolt and turn it straight to engage the spring clip
