United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

On my Blackvue I paid an extra £35 & it is wired live so can record when you are not in the car. It however has a sensor that will shut it down if the battery is loosing charge. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

Npinks has one of those devices, he is experiencing issues with it shutting the camera down on cold mornings when all the heaters are on.
I used to have mine wired permanently but in winter it was draining the battery, now it's wired through the power save circuit so it shuts down on locking and re starts on unlock rather than ignition, seems to work well enough. No protection when away from the car though.

I also have a 'power magic' installed which works fine as far as the camera goes. I have noticed that the car's Eco mode no longer kicks in but that might be due to the fact that 90% of our journeys are around town..

this being my 2nd Blackvue
the first overheated and died (warranty replacement)
I decided to fit a Heat sink this works well but having taken the camera from the subaru and not fitting it to the new car
it appears the internal battery has died, this is only used for saving last file on power down and power off announcement.
on inspection the battery is similar to that fitted to the Mini RC helicopters,
as blackvue won't sell the battery
I decided to sort it myself.

pics show new battery and heat sink

I am using a power magic, battery saver and I am finding the car is often having a low battery in the morning, even after a trip to wales and back, a few days later when starting up the power magic turned the blackvue off and restarted it, only to do it again a few mins later when the heated seats/steering wheel was all on and i was driving along Confused I have even done a full recon charge with my CTEK and had the same issue

I don't think the FL2 MY14 likes camera or extras been in at start up, my other camera in the rear is only on when the rear power socket is activated at opening and the engine is running so wont drain battery through the night, but there will be a draw when starting.

I don't want to change the settings to turn the Balckvue off after X hours as its there to protect my dust bins from been pee'd on

As for fuses, these are the ones i used, as per the thread http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic20778.html

I MIGHT have sorted it

F1 perm (key rf receiver/ interior sensor) I would assume perm live to give access using the key fob

F21 switched instrument panel

oddly whilst installing mine
the next day I had "low battery"
I used the CTEK to charge it
I am using fuse 40 at the Moment
the same as the seats
I believe this switches off after 10mins.

With the power magic I needed a switched and a live

Loads of the fuses are switched on the glove box fuse area the only one I could find that wasn't was the RF feed for the keyless start, not ideal fuse but had to be done

I had the low battery, turn off in a minute on the sATNav screen a couple of times Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've just taken the plunge and ordered 2 x Mini DVR 0801 for myself and my partner. After seeing some good reviews it seems to be one of the best all round camera systems for a very reasonable price

Reading through this thread I'm a bit confused over power sources. I have a 2010 XS - so will that have a forward 12v source that will turn off when the car is locked?

The 0801 is brilliant. Most of the time I don't even know it's there it so small.
Good choice Thumbs Up
Test your power source by putting your sat nav in there and leave it on whilst you lock from outside. Watch it for a while and see if the power stays on or not. Sorted. * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

Good idea

Unfortunately I don't have a sat nav (normally just use my phone) but I'm sure my ipod charger with a little red Led will do the same thing

How quickly should it turn off?

Well I've managed to get it set up in the Defender as a test subject, and so far I really like it

https://scontent-ams.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...e=5598EA87

The above picture shows the view over the bonnet and the software that's included to play it all back - including GPS mapping, speed, G-forces

I've seen a couple of reviews that the battery / camera has given up after about 9 months, so hopefully it'll last ok. Fingers crossed

Exactly

Considering the low price I'm impressed with the quality of the play back and the software is really easy to use

Shame the manual is typical Engrish Laughing
