Forgive me for this, but it 'tis a little bit scary!

Hi,

What I mean is, for those of us that are considering purchasing a Freelander, or about to own one ( like me) or are new owners, this very informative forum is .....well.....full of problems and faults!! From Diff's to Haldex; to Electronics and all sorts and thats in just the last few days!!

So a simple newbie request....Lets have some replies to this saying how many tens of thousands of miles of happy motoring some of you have enjoyed!!!

Thanks (hopefully) in advance! Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

Well, if it's any reassurance, I've done 9000 miles from new since October, and not a murmur of discontent from me or mine! I'll add that about 70% of that number has been high speed Motorway driving (80-90mph), and I've had no issue with whining Diffs, Haldex' or anything else for that matter! Its a very well engineered car IMHO...Hope that helps.... Foraging near Gaydon....

Sounds like someone's braking the speed limit. Wink I normally drive at 80mph on motorways anyway. Whistle

What MPG does yours get?

There are threads singing the praises of our cars but I'll repeat myself again for your benefit Thumbs Up

Two years, 31,000 miles of fault free motoring, still on good original brake discs and pads, drinks no oil, still smiling when I drive it, pulled the 'van' since new effortlessly.

How's that Question

People won't say, because as soon as they say they've had 25,000 trouble free miles, they're car will drop to bits, then they'll be on asking technical questions to put it right. called Sods Law. Don't tempt fate.

Kola's Kab,

Hope this helps put your mind at ease: Yes it sounds as if there is loads of issue but your on a FR2 forum, if you go to any other car forum your find they talk about the same things issue's with there cars...
But on here you know about it and people are willing to help sort it..
I pick mine up on Tuesday this has been a long journey, since last August when I look at one and I'm still asking questions thats part of motoring..
Touch wood I have pick one that will not give me issue's, but I know were to come if it go's tit's up plus other good point is if you hear, see any of the things being talk about at lease you know what could be wrong and not scratching your head totally clueless..
There is also lots of good things on here too..

There is never a problem because there is always a answer ...... Thumbs Up Iain

Just ask yourself how many Freelander 2's have Land Rover sold since 2006?
How many members are there of this excellent Forum?
Hiow many of those members have admitted to having problems?

The problem with any Forum is that it will tend to attract those who have:
a, An interest in owning the product or own the product
b. Are seeking advice about the product.
c. Have a problem they wish to air with Forum members.

Any Forum that was full of posts about how wonderful, reliable, fantastic etc the product is will attract less members than one where problems are highlighted.

I've owned 2 Freelander 2's, the first was an 07 which did 35000 miles without any major issues, the second is a 60 that's done 25000 miles again without issues. I've also had 3 at work an 11 plate and 2 x 62 plates which are worked particularly hard and are the most reliable vehicles on the fleet which includes every other RR/LR model.

I own an 08 SE manual and going through the main dealers history records on it, other than LR software updates it was totally clean.
The 2 x problems I have had during my ownership were just bad luck. (Around 」2.5k worth of bad luck tho).
We know 3 other freelander 2 owners; 2 are from new 07plates with nothing and the other is an 11 plate , all one owner, with nothing to mention.
It was on our friends recommendations of reliability we bought ours.
Generally they are reliable but all forums are where owners tend to air their problems.

90,000 on my 2008 (2009MY) with really minor issues, all sorted under warranty. Just bought a 2013MY and delighted; it's reassuringly similar and refreshingly different!
Great handling (after a Disco 2)
Fuel economy rarely less than 40 mpg
Enough space for all I need
I never missed a meeting or getting home for the last 5 years as a freelance - go anywhere, do anything (within reason) despite cent Yorkshire winters

112000kms - 70000 miles - on Aussie roads, including much gravel roads, off road and fire tracks, 4 years old, faulty fuel pump replaced under warranty, otherwise no problems electrical or otherwise. Still on original brake discs and pads. On top of that, it is the most comfortable car I've owned. Would I buy another? Yes! I shan't talk about fuel though, since I have the 3.2 straight six. Goes well though!
