England

A while ago as I was approaching a set of lights on a two lane section of road, the nearside lane was stationery with vehicles waiting to turn left, I overtook the stationary vehicles, a few minutes later I had a car chasing me, apparantly I had hit her car as I passed and she had witnesses, the dent I had done when I hit her was at the bottom of the offside wing near the sill, in doing this I had managed to not even touch the offside mirror Shocked the dent had no paint on it and in the couple of minutes whilst she had chased me had managed to rust over Shocked I was in a brand new vehicle with not a mark on it, the boys in blue were called and I had to exchange details as they said that she had witnesses that I had done it and it was best left to the insurance companies to sort it out, even though you would have thought that it was plain to see that it was an old dent and she was trying it on, but there didnt want to know,

Something not right there. The front socket is definitely supposed to be ignition-switched and 'dead' when the ignition is off. Mine is - plug anything in there and whatever it is goes on and off with the ignition. Could it have been a coincidence? The bluetooth issue referred to elsewhere, perhaps?

My camera is plugged into the front socket & often parked for weeks, never a flat battery ! from the camera as its definitely not recording when parked in the garage at home.
I just use the rear socket when parked in car parks or main dealers !!! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Could it be that as I can only find two outlets, both in the centre console, that these equate to being the centre and rear outlets and not front and centre? Or is there a third outlet I have not yet found?

No, they are front and centre, some have another in the load area, model dependent i think.

@npinks.

Nick, I will be very interested to hear your opinion on this model, as it is 1 of the 2 that I have short listed. It looks very impressive, and the reviews are pretty good (as long as you reformat the MSD card!) Foraging near Gaydon....

I've just ordered a Blackvue DR500GW-HD WIFI unit with the Power Magic Pro battery saver. As personally I think it looks way better than the BlackHawk.

I'd be interested to know where people have placed their camera as I notice there is a black screen around the very top of the rear view mirror. I'm guessing just a little bit further down the screen.

I'd want to keep it out of my (driving) sight and also out of sight to any potential thieves out there.

I would suggest directly under the rear view mirror, link it up to you phone and use the live view feature before sticking it on Thumbs Up

I mounted mine not doing so, to the left of the mirror and get a black wedge of mirror case in view Embarassed

I was the same about thieves, make sure you turn off the LEDS and place it were you want it, I don't think thieves really look up that area, that's what they also say on disco3 too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
