I'd love to do the LR Experience or similar in my own car, but they won't let you do it.
Also, don't want to unnecessarily smash my car to bits or smash things off it.
Just a challenging but safe course would be great.

Look in at park wood tong off road centre, if you want have a play off road Thumbs Up

+1 for Park Wood

Even for standard FL2

Just stay off the black route, even with MTRs and going the wrong way - long story, lots of shouting by SWMBO Razz Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Heard couple of bad things about Tong as to the difficulty of the course re. taking a road vehicle and getting it into situations where it gets grounded in huge ruts, or wading over the limit of the vehicle. People who have Defenders etc. prepared with winches jacks etc. get stuck, so bit frightened.

There are several routes
Black being for tricked up Defenders with suspension lift, stupid tyres, snorkles and roll cages.
There is a route for showroom vehicles - you can even take a Kia around Shocked .
There is a nice "puddle" that can get too deep for a FL - watch others and weigh up the depth.

Then again anyone who has any experience wil allways let the brave (foolhardy?) go first to check the lay of the land Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

If you have a look at http://lroac.com/Calendar.html you'll see dates when it is possible to take your own car around the LR Experience site at Rockingham Castle in your own vehicle under the guidance of an LR Experience Instructor.

£50 for a day? Bargain. Looks like i may have to have a go. Driven the FL2 auto around Skipton, but mine's a manual so would like to try it and test my driving skills.

There's a youtube video of an FL2 in Tong Lake. Looks right on the limit to me....too close to an expensive drive. Smile

omg please tell me they are not thinking about replacing a defender with that thing.

Its a nice machine but the defender is fit for a purpose I really dont think that will be.

The current Defender is not allowed to be made after 2015 due to airbags or lack of them & possibly other bits too. The only market they will be made for I believe are places like the outbacks of Africa etc. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
