Tyres - Need a hard wearing set

Hi Guys,
I currently have Michelin Latitude Diamaris tyres fitted and to be fair, they are wearing fairly evenly but way toooooo fast for my liking Sad . I do around 10,000 miles a year but the drive to work involves corning at 60 mph etc. so they do get a bit of stick Razz

I need to change 2 tyres in the next month so i'm looking for some recommendations please - Would anyone be able to assist in pointing me in the right direction of a hard wearing compound tyre please?

Many thanks,

Chris

Agreed grabber at are great. 10mm tread, no More road noise, fantastic in wet, and off road,
I have had vredestein winter toys, wrangler hp's and pirelli zeros.
IMHO. The grabber at's are best.

£600 fitted . 255 55 18's

Plus they look fantastic

Just fitted a set of ATs to mine (235/65R17) very impressed with them, there are quieter than the goodyears (wrangelers / latitudes I think) that were on hold the road much better and should be good in the winter too.
Plus they look the part!!

Anyone tried General Grabber UHPs. UHPs seem to be one of the cheapest of the General range (quoted £123.44 each) and get a good write up. They look to have a directional tread but have been listed as ‘All Season’ on various websites.
I will need 2 for the front at the end of the year going on the current rate of wear (approx 1mm per 4500 miles) and possibly 2 more at the rear in the new year.
It’s been a while since I needed tyres and was wondering if this new EU labelling regulation that’s just come in had put the overall prices up. August LRO has a good write up on this.

Eurolandy,
I have Grabber UHPs on mine. I've done 12k miles so far & had no problems. Superb in the wet, quiet, appear to be long lasting. Still got 6mm+ after 12k miles. Reasonable price too.
Russ. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Thanks Guys,
It looks like the grabbers get a good write up...

I'll look around now for a reasonable price Sad

Cheers,

Chris

My original Pirelli Zero's were worn out at 29000 miles and I replaced them with General Grabber UHP's. They have now done 16000 mile and have 5mm of tread left. No complaints.

Looks like Generals will be my next tyres in a few months. Event Tyres seem to be competitive and not a lot of difference between the UHP and AT in price (although the price seems to fluctuate quite often).
The Goodyears on at the moment have done 22,400 miles and have 4mm left on the front, 4.5 to 6mm on the rear (rears have done 19,000). Strangely, the rear left is wearing quicker than the right. Chap at work noticed the same on his FL1 and was told by the tyre fitter that is was because he towed and used a lot of roundabouts. The explanation given was that in the UK as we drive on the left, it puts more strain on the nearside tyres when using roundabouts. I was in France a few weeks ago, I should have used the roundabouts over there more often to even the wear out!!!!!!!
OK time for a FOUR wheel alignment check I think.

The UHP's I had were ok on the road but not so good on mud and grass.....far prefer the Wrangles in this respect. If you don't venture off road the UHP's are OK. Long time since I had some fitted but iirc they didn't wear quite so well as the Wranglers and became a bit noisey once worn down a bit in comparison.

I am not really interested in 'Off Road' tyres so maybe the UHP are the ones to look at.

Thanks all,
