Worth factoring in things like snow and heavy rain as the ATs will perform much better than the UHPs |

I replaced my Pirelli Scorpion Zeros (on my D3) at 25000 miles with Pirelli Scorpion ATRs.

The General UHP would do your job I think, lots of happy users and better than some other standard tyres.

I need 4 new tyres and was looking at the AT's and was told on my post that the 255/60/R18's could invalidate my warranty.. Thoughts? Need them desperately so really need advice! |

Can't see why replacement tyres would invalidate a warranty. Make sure the tyre load rating is correct (103 at least, I think) & that you fit 235/60 x 18s. If you are trying to fit 255s that may be the issue. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!! Gone - 2008 Freel2 HSE Santorini Black Hello - 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black |

The tyres I had my eye on were Grabber AT's 255/60R18's. I can't find a Grabber AT at 235/60R18. They do a UHP at this spec.. Just wanted advice on what people thought were the best. Need something good in the snow! |

Big step up from 235/60x18 to 255/60x18, we have not done this but I think some may have.

Why not look at the genuine winter tyres, designed for snow, better in cooler weather. Just replaced the original 18" Goodyear Wranglers with Goodyear UltraGrip winter tyres (ebay strikes again), better at cornering than the nearly bald originals, certainly clear the water better - but here's the rub, fuel economy has dropped from around 31mpg to a best of 28mpg. This means they are worse than the Goodyear MT/R for fuel economy! The originals lasted approximately 55K - it's hard to tell as I have done 77k on the originals and the MT/Rs, the MT/Rs have approx 7mm tread left. Thanks for the reply! My fuel economy is already worse than rubbish due to the short hops I do! I may go for the Grabber UHP's... What do you think! |

Why not ring AJS 4x4 & have a chat? They may be able to suggest an alternative to the Generals. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Take a look at Hankook RA23 in 235/60x18. Andy.

I'm on Grabber UHPs & have no problems. Brilliant in the rain, grippy in the dry. 12+k miles on mine & 6mm left. No problems in last years light snow & ice, but may not be fantastic in deep snow. I had no trouble on a muddy & slippy field either. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
