My manual FL2 is a real pain in the ass because of the DPF problem. So far i've only located workshops in England where I could remove the DPF, but can you tell me which garage did you use in Germany? I think i'll take a trip to Germany in spring and I could let it be removed then

Arrjo, I will send you a PM with a link to the web-page of DPF-simulator producer. It solves the main problem - prevents car going into limp mode. However, this gadget is not perfect. It cannot dupe the ECU entirely and electronci fault signals are recorded with the 'check-engine' light flaring up. I don't feel disturbed by this. Nevertheless you have to delete the error message before going to annual car safety inspection. Otherwise the car can be operated without problems. But this gadget is not a cheap one, I have to say..

I have a 2011 FL2 and drive mostly on single lane A and B roads and over 14000 miles have not had any problems with my DPF. Also I regularly have access to a LRE FL2 which spends almost all its life off road or doing short runs on A and B roads and it neve has a DPF full problem.

Well, mine has done 31000 km, which is what? 20.000 miles? No problems so far, and I certainly hope it stays this way!

My dad had a similar problem but on his Discovery 2. It turnes out that when it wnet in for a service Guy Salmon Land Rover punctured the radiator and the car went into redced power mode. Hope yours is ok. will watch out as my dad now has an SD4 aswell.

Thing is, both Arrjo and Atrix have older model FR2s which would not have had a DPF fitted in UK. From what I read on here, the latest UK models with DPF don't have the problems that the early continental models suffer from.

What is the difference on the latest UK models compared to the older continental ones? I have quite a few issues with the DPF on my 2007 european spec model. It would be interesting to see if there is something that can be done, i.e. new software for the ECU or even getting a newer updated DPF unit (if the technology has changed to make it better). I wonder how all these Evoques are going to get on with their short school runs...

Just had a read through this thread, why is it everyone seems to think it is JLR not doing their homework?
All UK diesel engines have had DPF's since 2009 and all suffer the same it is not solely a JLR issue, if you look at any car forum the DPF limp mode is a massive issue, which is very much dependant on the type of driving you do.

Even the AA are on about them because of a huge increase in calls from its members breaking down.

Short stop/start journeys, not letting the engine get to full operating temperature for a reasonable length of time are the main factors or switching off the engine during a regeneration process.

This is an all makes issue.

I still insist that JLR attitude toward DPF-plagued FL2 owners was totally unaceptable. It took 5 years for JLR to solve the DPF-issue Recently, they have issued Q212-Update as a fix for car going into limp-mode right after first 'DPF-Full'-message. First FL2s with DPF came out in 2007. The whole time span between 2007 un 2012 JLR-garages told to complaining customers: everything works as it should; your driving mode is bad and bla bla blaa.. Not to mention regular and expensive garage visits and oil changes due to dilution effect. If that were the case no update would be needed. As for 'other brands have the same problem' just have a look at www.blacklandy.eu. 200 pages for FL2-DPF issues. Of course you can find problems by other makes, but the rate of occurance is in NO comparison with other brands. At least, I could not find a forum on German cars, where 200 pages are devoted to stories of unhappy FL2 owners left stranded by JLR with phrases - everything works just fine! And I would like to remind you that FL2 is by far not the most numerous car with DPF in Germany. The FL2 claimed to be able to cross the continents coudn't endure 3 week of city driving. So, I have every reason to believe that JLR didn't do they homework well in this regard and customers were left to pay for the faulty products. Sorry, for picking up this subject again, but when I read that JLR did everything ok, I can't help raising my voica again It seems that Q212 really helps to solve the issue. But lost trust you can't repair with an overdue update..

Read the bit in the manual of my MY2013 SD4 ref DPF but can't find a DPF warning lamp or where a message comes up. Can someone put me straight, please.

The message will come up in the message centre, where the fuel gauge and temperature gauge is, accompanied by an Orange light when it needs to be done, if you get the red one its trouble along with the visit dealer message.
Though my SD4 was a 2010, never ever saw any DPF warnings. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
